Admission

Return bridge tickets cost JPY 500 for junior high school students and older, JPY 250 for primary school students and nothing for preschool children. There is no separate one-way ticket. The bridge, ropeway and Iwakuni Castle combination ticket costs JPY 1,550 for adults or JPY 700 for primary school students.

Opening hours

The bridge is accessible 24 hours a day. The ticket office usually opens 08:00–17:00, extending to 18:00 in the tourist season and 19:00 in summer. Use the payment box when unstaffed. High river levels, heavy rain or strong winds may close the bridge.

What to see at Kintaikyo Bridge

River views from the arches and a park walk

Look across both riverbanks from the wooden arches. After crossing, Kikko Park is about another five minutes' walk.

How to get to Kintaikyo Bridge

From Iwakuni Station stand 1, take a Kintaikyo-bound bus for about 20 minutes, then walk about one minute from the stop to the bridge. Routes 11 and 21 via Muronoki cost JPY 300 one way or JPY 600 return for adults. Check fares separately for other routes. From Shin-Iwakuni Station, the bus journey takes about 15 minutes.

The bridge has steps, and rain or snow can make it slippery. High river levels, heavy rain or strong winds may close it; follow official operating notices and instructions on site.

Can I cross with a one-way ticket?

Individual tickets cover a return crossing; there is no separate one-way ticket. After your park walk, cross back using the same return ticket.
