Admission
Admission costs JPY 500 for adults, or JPY 250 for visitors aged 65 and over and students aged 16 and over. Ages 15 and younger enter free. Bring proof of age or student ID matching official requirements for discounted admission.
Opening hours
From 1 October to 14 March, the garden opens from 09:00 to 16:30, with last admission at 16:00. From 15 March to 30 September, it opens from 09:00 to 18:00, with last admission at 17:30. From 11 June to 31 July, hours extend to 09:00–19:00, with last admission at 18:30. Entry ends 30 minutes before closing in each season. The garden normally closes on Mondays and from 29 December to 3 January. Public holidays and cherry blossom or chrysanthemum exhibition periods have exceptions. Check advance reservation requirements for the flower season.

Allow time to explore and rest. Flower and autumn foliage timing changes each year, so the same date can bring different scenery. A morning visit lets you combine walking with breaks.
How to get to Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden
For Shinjuku Gate, walk about ten minutes from JR Shinjuku’s South Exit. From Shinjuku-gyoemmae subway exit 1 or Shinjuku-sanchome exit E5, allow about five minutes. Other gates have different routes.

The garden normally closes on Mondays, or the next weekday when Monday is a public holiday, and from 29 December to 3 January. Cherry blossom and chrysanthemum exhibition periods have Monday opening exceptions. Check advance reservation requirements for the relevant flower season.
Choose an entrance to suit your station
Shinjuku Gate is about ten minutes from Shinjuku’s South Exit, or five minutes from Shinjuku-gyoemmae exit 1 and Shinjuku-sanchome exit E5. Check the route separately if using another gate.
