How should I spend two days in Fukuoka?

With limited time between arrival and departure, choose one route: Hakata and Tenjin, Ohori Park and the science museum, or Momochi and the tower. These plans assume one night near Hakata Station and a late afternoon flight on day 2.

Ohori Park and the science museum

Choose this if a park walk and indoor exhibits matter most. Visit the museum on day 2 only if your flight leaves late enough to finish your visit.

Day 1 · Fukuoka Airport → Hakata → dinner

  1. International terminal → Hakata Station

From the international terminal, use the shuttle and Airport Line to reach Hakata Station.

  2. Hakata Station → Accommodation and dinner

If you can leave your luggage at your accommodation, do so before eating near Hakata Station. You don’t need to fit both Ohori Park and the museum into arrival day. Find the station exit nearest your accommodation to make the next day’s journey easier.

Momochi Beach and Fukuoka Tower

Choose this for coastal views when your flight on day 2 leaves late. Of the three short routes, this is the most sensitive to weather and flight times because of bus waits and the return journey.

Day 1 · Airport → Hakata accommodation → dinner in Tenjin or Hakata

  1. International terminal → Hakata Station and accommodation

After arriving at the international terminal, take the free shuttle to the domestic terminal and the Airport Line to Hakata. Leave your luggage at your accommodation and decide how much time you have for the evening.

After the observation deck, take a short walk on Momochi Beach north of the tower. Return by bus via Tenjin to your Hakata accommodation and collect your luggage. The tower closes on 28–29 June 2027; on those dates, skip the deck and visit only the beach if the weather allows.

Tower admission and the return journey: adult observation deck admission costs JPY 1,000. Bus and subway fares are extra. Departure-day sightseeing and the airport journey

How much sightseeing can I fit into departure day?

Start with your airline’s recommended arrival time at the international terminal and check-in deadline. For a morning flight, skip sightseeing. Even with a late afternoon flight, you need time for the return journey and collecting luggage from your accommodation.

From Hakata, take an Airport Line train towards Fukuoka Airport and get off at the terminus. The station connects to the domestic terminal. Follow the international-shuttle signs at the gates and exits 1A or 2A to Level 1, then take the free international shuttle from domestic stop 1. Allow time for waiting, the shuttle ride and walking to the airline counters on Level 3 of the international terminal. With a wheelchair or pram, check the route via the gates marked for the domestic terminal and the southern lift.

The 2-day science museum and Momochi routes return to Hakata accommodation after sightseeing on day 2. Confirm luggage storage after checkout and collection times; cut back on sightseeing if departure procedures would be tight. The aquarium is placed on a middle day in routes with at least two nights: visit it then rather than moving it to departure day.

Can I add a park or beach walk on the last day?

If you add a park or beach, reduce other sightseeing in the main route and check your flight time first. For a morning departure, skip the walk.

For Ohori Park, take an Airport Line train towards Meinohama from Hakata or Tenjin, get off at Ohori Park Station and follow the park map. For Momochi, walk from Nishijin Station using the tower’s official access map, then return to the station the same way. Check walking time from the station to the beach and any on-site restrictions separately.

Move the walk to the previous day if you cannot comfortably collect your luggage and allow time for the Airport Line, international shuttle and airline procedures. A beach-only walk does not add another observation deck charge.
