Where should I go on day 2 in Fukuoka?
Spend day 2 on city sights and the science museum, or visit Marine World or Momochi Beach. All three routes keep you close to the airport on the final day.

This route assumes arrival at Fukuoka Airport’s international terminal, two nights near Hakata Station and departure in the afternoon or later on day 3. Adjust the order if your flight leaves earlier or you stay in Tenjin. Morning and afternoon indicate the order of visits, not train departure times.

Day 1 · Airport → Hakata → old town
- International terminal → Domestic terminal
Complete immigration on Level 2 of the international terminal, collect luggage on Level 1 and pass through customs. Go to free shuttle stop 5 outside arrivals. Get off at the south side of the domestic terminal and descend through subway entrances 1A or 1B. The shuttle ride takes about 10 minutes, excluding waiting and walking.

- Airport Station → Hakata accommodation
Hakata is two stops away on the subway Airport Line. Leave your luggage at your accommodation; ask beforehand about storage if you arrive before check-in. Check the hotel address and nearest station exit.
- Hakata accommodation → Old town or Tenjin
If you arrive late, keep dinner near Hakata Station. With more time, choose either the area around Kushida Shrine or Tenjin. The Hakata Station camera shows the street outside; consult the station and operator for train service information.
Day 2 · Park walk and city exhibits
- Hakata Station → Ohori Park
Take the Airport Line from Hakata to Ohori Park Station and walk to the park. The lake path is about 2km, so you can walk just part of it. If you add the Japanese garden, check its opening arrangements and admission charge separately.

- Ohori Park → Science museum in Ropponmatsu
Have lunch around Ohori, then head to Ropponmatsu. Your bus stop or walking route depends on where you eat. The museum is near exit 3 of Ropponmatsu Station on the Nanakuma Line. Adult admission to the main exhibition on Level 5 is JPY 510. Check Tuesday closures before setting out.

If the museum is closed, spend longer in either Ohori Park or Momochi. With children, you could choose the route with Marine World for day 2. For less walking, skip the full park circuit and check the walks from accommodation to station and from stops to attractions.
Day 3 · Finish in Hakata before departure
- Hakata accommodation → A meal or walk near the station
If time allows, eat near Hakata Station or take a short old-town walk. A return trip to Momochi or Uminonakamichi may leave too little time for the airport. Marine World requires a JR change at Kashii, so visit it on another day.

Admission depends on the route you choose. Adult tickets cost JPY 510 for the science museum, JPY 2,500 for Marine World and JPY 1,000 for Fukuoka Tower’s observation deck. Transport, flights, accommodation and meals are excluded.
Will a subway one-day pass save money?
An adult subway one-day pass costs JPY 640; single tickets cost JPY 210–380 depending on the journey. If every ride costs the minimum JPY 210, three single tickets total JPY 630, which is JPY 10 less than the pass. Four total JPY 840, so the pass saves JPY 200. Actual fares vary, so compare after choosing your stations. The pass is not valid on JR or buses.

Frequently asked questions
How much travel time should I allow for Marine World on a three-day trip?
The JR ride from Hakata to Kashii takes about 11 minutes, followed by about 20 minutes on the Kashii Line to Uminonakamichi and a roughly 5-minute walk to Marine World. These times cover the train rides and the walk from Uminonakamichi Station; transfers and waiting are excluded. Choose the aquarium route for day 2 and check your return train.
Can I use a subway one-day pass to visit Marine World?
No. This route uses JR trains from Hakata with a change at Kashii. The return JR fare is separate.
What are the admission costs for the three-day routes?
For adults, the science museum’s main exhibition on Level 5 costs JPY 510, Marine World JPY 2,500 and Fukuoka Tower’s observation deck JPY 1,000. The routes do not visit all three, so count only the attraction in your chosen route. Transport, accommodation and meals are excluded.
