How should I spend 2 days and 1 night in Fukuoka?

With limited time between arrival and departure, choose one itinerary: Hakata and Tenjin, Ohori and the science museum, or Momochi and the tower. These plans assume 1 night near Hakata Station and a late-afternoon departure on day 2.

Momochi Beach and Fukuoka Tower

Choose this if waterfront views are your priority and your day-2 flight leaves late. Bus waiting time and the round trip make this the most sensitive of the three options to weather and flight timing.

  1. Airport international terminal → Hakata Station / accommodations

After arriving at the international terminal, take the free shuttle to the domestic terminal and the Airport line to Hakata Station. Leave your bags at your Hakata accommodations, then decide when to head out for dinner.

Departure-day sightseeing and airport travel

How much sightseeing can I fit into departure day?

Start with your airline’s recommended arrival time at the international terminal and check-in deadline. For a morning flight, skip sightseeing and go to the airport. Even for a late-afternoon departure, you need time for the sightseeing round trip and to collect your bags at your accommodations.

From Hakata, take the Airport line toward Fukuoka Airport and get off at the last stop. The station connects to the domestic terminal. Follow the ticket-gate signs for the international-terminal shuttle and exits 1A or 2A to the 1st floor, then take the free shuttle from domestic stop 1. Allow separate time for the wait and ride and the walk to airline counters on the international terminal’s 3rd floor. With a wheelchair or stroller, check the ticket gate marked for the domestic terminal and the south elevator route.

The 2-day/1-night science-museum and Momochi itineraries return to your Hakata accommodations after sightseeing on day 2. Ask about bag storage after checkout and pickup times. Cut sightseeing if departure procedures would be rushed. The aquarium sits in the middle of itineraries with at least 2 nights; keep it on a separate day rather than moving it to departure day.

Can I add a park or beach walk on the last day?

To add the park or beach, shorten other sightseeing in the itinerary and check your flight first. Skip the walk for a morning departure.

For Ohori Park, take an Airport-line train toward Meinohama from Hakata or Tenjin, get off at Ohori Park Station, and follow the park map. For Momochi, use the walking route from Nishijin Station on the tower’s official access map, then return to the station the same way. Check the walk from the station to the beach and any on-site restrictions separately.

If there is not enough time to collect your bags and continue by Airport line and international-terminal shuttle to airline check-in, move the walk to the previous day. A beach-only walk does not add another tower observation-deck admission charge.
