Spend the middle day at temples or stay in Hakone?

Stay in Yokohama for harbour exhibits and Kamakura’s temples, or spend two nights in Yumoto for Hakone’s history exhibits and outdoor art museum. The Yumoto route visits the museum and Gora on day two before returning to the same accommodation. On the final day, you travel down via Odawara, so choose an itinerary that moves to the city the day before if your departure is early.

Frequently asked questions

Can I still sightsee on the final day after two nights in Yumoto?

If airport travel leaves enough time, take a short riverside walk in Yumoto. Visit the history museum, Open-Air Museum and Gora over the previous two days, then travel via Odawara to the airport on the final day. Skip the walk if returning to your accommodation, transfers and airport procedures would be rushed. A morning flight requires a different itinerary that spends the final night outside the mountains with easier airport access.

Does adding Gora after the museum cost the same as a return trip from Yumoto?

Yumoto → Chokoku-no-Mori costs ¥460, Chokoku-no-Mori → Gora ¥160, and Gora → Yumoto ¥460: ¥1,080 in rail fares. Adding the ¥2,000 museum same-day ticket gives a ¥3,080 subtotal for that day. This differs from the ¥920 Yumoto–Chokoku-no-Mori return route without Gora. Meals, accommodation and travel to your accommodation cost extra.
