The Tokyo 1-Day Ticket covers eligible JR local and rapid trains in the 23 wards of Tokyo · 東京, along with Tokyo Metro, Toei Subway, the Nippori-Toneri Liner, Tokyo Sakura Tram and Toei Bus for one day. Toei late-night buses and reserved-seat buses are excluded.

When does this ticket suit your itinerary?

Compare it with individual fares if you plan several JR, subway and Toei bus journeys in one day. For an itinerary using only JR, also compare the Tokunai Pass. A day ticket does not necessarily save money if you make only a few journeys.

Prices and child fares

JR East lists this one-day ticket at JPY 1,720 for adults aged 12 or over and JPY 860 for children aged 6–11. Compare that total with the JR, subway and bus fares for the journeys you actually plan to take.

Covered railways

On JR routes, this ticket covers non-reserved Ordinary Car seats on eligible local and rapid trains within Tokyo’s 23 wards. It also covers Tokyo Metro and Toei subway services, the Nippori-Toneri Liner and Tokyo Sakura Tram. It is not a nationwide pass or a ticket for every railway around Tokyo.

Covered buses and exclusions

Eligible Toei buses are included, but late-night and reserved-seat buses are excluded. Do not assume that buses run by other companies are covered.

Where to buy

You can buy the ticket from JR East reserved-seat ticket machines within the valid area. Its name resembles the JR TOKYO Wide Pass, but its one-day validity and covered routes are different.

From purchase to boarding

  1. Choose your stations and bus operators, then compare them with the official coverage map.

  2. At a JR EAST reserved-seat ticket machine within the covered area, choose the Tokyo 1-Day Ticket and your travel date.

  3. Check the adult or child category and the date printed on the ticket. Child tickets are for ages 6–11.

  4. When changing between JR, subway and buses, check that the operator and section are included. Toei late-night and reserved-seat buses require separate fares.

Can I take every Toei bus?

No. Late-night and reserved-seat buses are excluded. Pay separately for buses outside the ticket’s coverage.
