Admission

The park has free walking areas and paid areas. Honmaru and the northern area cost ¥320 per adult or ¥100 per child from 1 April to 23 November, and are listed as free from 24 November to 31 March. The botanical garden costs ¥320 per adult or ¥100 per child from mid-April to 23 November. A combined ticket for Honmaru and the northern area, botanical garden and Fujita Memorial Garden costs ¥520 per adult or ¥160 per child. Check park information for changes due to construction or events on your date.

Opening hours

Free areas are listed as open 24 hours. Regular paid-area hours from 1 April to 23 November are 09:00–17:00, extended to 07:00–21:00 during the cherry blossom festival. Honmaru and the northern area also have a winter closure notice for 24 November–31 March; check park management information for areas accessible in winter.

Walk beside the gates and moats

Follow the gates and moats for views of the castle grounds. Allow time for exploring inside the park as well as the walk from Hirosaki Station.

Walk from Hirosaki Station towards Dotemachi and the park’s Otemon Gate, about 30 minutes from the station. Calculate time from your accommodation and walking within the park separately.

Before you visit

Keep closure and construction areas

Hirosaki Castle’s keep interior has been closed until further notice since 24 November 2025. Parts of southern Honmaru have restricted access and a temporary stair detour until around 31 March 2027. The Hitsujisaru Yagura area is also closed to entry. Follow park management notices and local detour signs during your walk.
