Admission to the grounds is JPY 300 for adults and JPY 150 for ages 6–12; children under six enter free. The Buddha’s interior costs an additional JPY 50 per person.
Opening hours and closed days
The grounds open 08:00–17:30 April–September and 08:00–17:00 October–March, with last admission 15 minutes before closing. The Buddha’s interior opens 08:00–16:30, with last admission ten minutes before closing.

How to get to Kotokuin and Kamakura’s Great Buddha
From Kamakura Station, take a Fujisawa-bound Enoden train and alight at Hase. Walk about seven minutes to Kotokuin. Hasedera is about five minutes on foot from Kotokuin.

Visit the Buddha’s interior first
The interior is open 08:00–16:30, with last admission ten minutes before closing. It closes before the grounds, so check its admission deadline first if arriving late in the afternoon.
Ordinary visits and temporary notices
Ordinary visits do not require a reservation. The official guide lists no regular closing day, but check temporary notices before visiting.
Questions about Kotokuin and Kamakura’s Great Buddha
Does a Kotokuin ticket include the Buddha’s interior?
No. Pay JPY 50 per person for the interior, in addition to admission to the grounds.
Can you walk from Kotokuin to Hasedera?
Yes. The walk takes about five minutes. You can visit both temples together; allow time for stairs within Hasedera too.
