Admission
An adult electronic timed ticket costs JPY 1,200 and an on-site paper ticket costs JPY 1,300. Paper tickets are for same-day use without selectable times. Ages 6–15 pay JPY 400 for either ticket; preschool children aged five and below enter free. The online adult combined ticket for the castle and City Museum costs JPY 1,500, is valid for two days, requires a castle entry time and cannot be cancelled or changed after purchase.
Opening hours and closed days
Usual hours are 08:30–17:00, with admission until 16:30. Closed 29–31 December. Busy-period restrictions and summer extensions follow official notices.

How to get to Matsumoto Castle
From the east-side Oshiro Exit, take Town Sneaker North Route bus 21 to Matsumoto Castle/City Hall. Use southern Kuromon for the main enclosure. Walking from the station takes about 20 minutes. Red Uzumibashi is not the enclosure entrance.

Before you visit
Southern Kuromon is the enclosure entrance
Use southern Kuromon Gate to enter the main enclosure. The red Uzumibashi bridge does not provide entry; continue to the entrance after seeing the bridge-side scenery.
New Year and 2026 Golden Week hours
On 1–3 January, hours are 10:00–15:30, admission until 15:00. The supplied 2026 Golden Week notice gives 25 April–6 May hours of 08:00–18:00, admission until 17:30. Check the applicable notice for other years or summer extensions.
