Usual special-exhibition admission costs JPY 1,200 at the general rate, JPY 500 for senior high school and university students, and JPY 300 for primary and junior high school students; children below primary school age enter free. For the RISD special exhibition running 8 August–12 October 2026, the rates are JPY 1,800 general, JPY 800 for senior high school and university students, and JPY 500 for primary and junior high school students. Other exhibitions use their own fees.
Opening hours and closed days
Hours are 09:00–17:00, with admission until 16:30. Closed 31 December. Display changes may open only some rooms; check your preferred exhibition’s dates.

How to get to Hokusai Museum
Take Nagano Electric Railway to Obuse, then walk about 12 minutes. The adult local one-way fare is JPY 870; limited-express supplements and reserved seats are extra. Choose outward and return trains together for your date.

Only some areas, including the float exhibition room, open on 13/23 October 2026, with general admission JPY 300. The full special exhibition is unavailable and discounts do not apply. For the special exhibition, visit during its run outside these change dates.

On 1 January, hours are 10:00–15:00. Plan for later opening and earlier closing than usual.
