Regular special-exhibition admission is ¥1,200 for adults, ¥500 for high school and college students, and ¥300 for elementary and junior high school students; children below elementary school age enter free. During the RISD special exhibition, August 8–October 12, 2026, prices are ¥1,800, ¥800, and ¥500 respectively. Follow the relevant exhibition's admission information for other dates.
Opening hours
The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with last admission at 4:30 p.m. It closes December 31. Only some exhibition rooms may open during changeovers, so check the dates of the exhibition you want to see.

Take Nagano Electric Railway from Nagano Station to Obuse Station, then walk about 12 minutes to the museum. The adult local-train fare is ¥870 one way; limited-express supplements and reserved-seat fees are separate. Choose both your outbound and return trains from the timetable for your travel date.

Partial opening on October 13 and 23, 2026
On October 13 and 23, 2026, only some areas, including the festival-float exhibition room, are open. General admission is ¥300. You cannot see the full special exhibition, and discounts do not apply. If that exhibition is your main purpose, visit during its run outside these changeover dates.
