Standard worship in the grounds requires no admission ticket. Meiji Jingu’s Inner Garden and museum each cost a separate JPY 500.
Opening hours and closed days
The grounds open throughout the year, with monthly gate times around sunrise and sunset. October hours are 05:40–16:40. Internal facilities such as the garden and museum may have shorter hours; check separately.
What can I see at Meiji Jingu?
Woodland paths and worship at the sanctuary
Enter from the south on the Harajuku side and walk to the main sanctuary. The station is close to the entrance, but the sanctuary requires a further walk within the grounds. Allow time for the woodland return walk and worship.
How to get to Meiji Jingu
Reach the south entrance from JR Harajuku or Meiji-jingumae exit 2, about 1 minute from the station. After entering, walk at least another 10 minutes to the main sanctuary.

How long is the walk from Harajuku Station to Meiji Jingu’s sanctuary?
The south entrance is about 1 minute from the station, followed by at least another 10 minutes to the sanctuary. From Meiji-jingumae subway station, use exit 2 for the south entrance.
