Two days in Mie: Ise worship or Toba sightseeing

For two days, choose either Ise or Toba. In Ise, visit the Outer Shrine on day one and Inner Shrine on day two, then return to Iseshi Station. In Toba, visit the aquarium on day one and Mikimoto Pearl Island on day two, finishing at Toba Station.

The Inner Shrine requires return buses, while Pearl Island has seasonal hours. Add a final-day visit only if enough time remains to return to the station before departure.

Checks for moving areas or departing

Read the guidance relevant to your trip length and overnight bases when combining Ise, Toba and Iga.

Travelling from Iga to Ise

Take the Iga Railway from Uenoshi to Iga-Kambe, then change to a Kintetsu route towards Iseshi. The Osaka and Yamada lines connect at Ise-Nakagawa, but whether you must change there depends on your train. Check transfer stations and journey times for your date. A limited express requires a reserved-seat supplement ticket in addition to the base fare.

Where do I board the Inner Shrine bus?

Routes 51 and 55 leave from Iseshi Station stand 10; return services from Naiku-mae to Iseshi use stand 2. Adult fares are JPY 520 one way or JPY 1,040 return. Other routes may use different stands. Enter your date and both stops in Mie Kotsu’s search to choose outward and return services.

What should I choose on my Toba departure day?

Mikimoto Pearl Island and Kamome Promenade are each about five minutes on foot from Toba Station, but their entrances are separate. Pearl Island charges admission; Kamome Promenade is a free coastal walk. Skip the coast and finish at the station in strong wind, heavy rain or for an early departure.

Before choosing a JR transport ticket

The Ise–Kumano–Wakayama area tourist ticket costs JPY 16,500 for an adult for five consecutive days and covers designated sections including Taki–Toba on the JR Sangu Line. Ise Railway differs from Iga Railway, and Kintetsu trains between Iseshi and Toba are outside this coverage. The JR Ise–Toba Free Ticket from the Nagoya city area costs JPY 5,300 for an adult for two days, with designated JR sections and bus-ticket exchange conditions. Local course subtotals cannot be compared directly with pass prices that include travel from another starting city. First establish your starting point, dates, actual sections, reservations and eligibility, then compare ordinary tickets. Accommodation, meals and facility fees cost extra.

Is 20 minutes enough to visit the Inner Shrine?

About 20 minutes is only the one-way walk from Ujibashi to the main sanctuary. Add bus waiting, worship, the return walk and meals. Skip the Inner Shrine on day two if too little time remains to return to Iseshi Station and board your departure.
