Saga attractions: admission, hours and station access
Choose Yoshinogari for restored ancient village walks, Honmaru for indoor Saga history, Arita for ceramics and Motoyu for a short bath/rest. Add separate Saga-return time for Karatsu views/Yutoku worship.

Yoshinogari Historical Park
吉野ヶ里歴史公園
Use the east entrance for restored settlement/ruins. West entrance is nearer play/lawn areas; choosing the wrong gate adds walking in this large park. Allow 3–4 hours for ruins, outdoor rest and lunch, not a tour of the whole park.
- FeesAdmission costs JPY 460 for adults aged 15 and over. Junior high school pupils and younger children enter free. Visitors aged 65 and over pay JPY 200 with age proof.
- HoursThe park opens from 09:00–17:00 in April–May and September–March, and 09:00–18:00 in June–August. It closes on 31 December, the third Monday in January and the following day.
- Getting thereTake a Nagasaki Main Line ordinary train from Saga towards Tosu to Yoshinogari-Koen, then walk about 15 minutes to the east entrance. Check train-specific times/both directions officially; station walks and waits are extra.

Saga Castle History Museum

How did Saga participate in Japan’s modernisation? Walk the restored palace’s spacious tatami rooms and see late-Edo/Meiji Restoration Saga through videos/models. Entry free, donations optional. Allow 1–2 hours for building/exhibits; station return walks separate.
- FeesEntry is free; donate a chosen amount if you wish.
- HoursThe museum opens from 09:30–18:00. It closes from 29 December–1 January; check temporary notices officially.
- Getting thereWalk south from Saga towards prefectural office, turning left at Saga-jo Honmaru-Iriguchi lights. Official walk 25 minutes. Alternatively, take route 6 towards Saga Castle site from bus-centre stand 3 and alight at Saga-jo-Ato.

Karatsu Castle

See Karatsu Bay views/exhibits in the castle keep, or walk only the surrounding park for exteriors. Park lift avoids approach steps, but internal keep stairs remain. Allow 1½–2 hours for castle/park; station return walks and lunch separate.
- FeesGeneral admission costs JPY 500 for ages 15 and over or JPY 250 for primary and junior high school pupils. Preschool children enter free. Park-lift singles cost an extra JPY 100 for general-admission visitors or JPY 50 for primary and junior high school pupils.
- HoursThe keep opens from 09:00–17:00, with last entry at 16:40. It closes from 29–31 December. Seasonal changes are possible.
- Getting thereOfficial north-exit-to-castle walk 25 minutes. Four/five-day Karatsu courses walk both directions. Ascent entrance to keep 222 steps; distinguish park lift from internal stairs.

Kyushu Ceramic Museum, Saga Prefecture

Compare ceramics’ changing patterns/forms through time at Arita’s museum. See Edo-period Arita pieces, European exports and modern/contemporary artists. Permanent entry free; special exhibits may differ. Allow 1–2 hours for permanent displays, adding time for special exhibits.

- HoursThe museum opens from 09:00–17:00, with entry until 16:30. It closes on Mondays, or the next weekday if Monday is a public holiday, and from 29 December–3 January.
- Getting thereAbout 12 minutes on foot from JR Arita. Return towards the station for food and your next train.
Takeo Onsen Motoyu
武雄温泉 元湯
Bathe in this historic public bath without a hot-spring stay. Motoyu has high ceilings/spacious baths; adult admission JPY 500. Allow around 1 hour for bath/rest. Private baths/accommodation are separate choices/costs.
- FeesAdmission costs JPY 500 for adults or JPY 250 for children aged 3 through primary school. Private baths, towels and other extras are excluded.
- HoursThe bath opens from 06:30–23:45, with reception until 23:00.
- Getting thereWalk north-exit→hot-spring streets/Romon. The association gives 10 minutes to streets/15 to gate; prefectural tourism gives 10 to Motoyu. Allow separate wayfinding/reception. Address: 7425 Takeo, Takeo-cho.

Yutoku Inari Shrine
祐徳稲荷神社
See red buildings and worship at Yutoku Inari in southern Kashima City. Lower grounds differ in walking demands from higher areas. General worship free; museum/garden/lift separate. Allow 1–2 hours for grounds/worship, adding time for higher areas/paid facilities.
- Fees and hoursGeneral worship free. Kyushu Tourism lists 08:30–16:30 visits, so courses use daytime worship within that window. Japanese garden JPY 200; garden/museum 09:00–16:30. Check lift fees/conditions on site; paid facilities excluded from costs.
- Getting thereFive-day option A uses direct Saga Station Bus Centre↔Yutoku-Jinja-Mae buses. Walk about 5 minutes through approach shops to the shrine. Hizen-Kashima bus access also exists, but this course does not change there.
- Museum fees and hoursYutoku Museum opens from 09:00–16:30 and is officially open year-round. Individual admission costs JPY 300 for adults, JPY 200 for senior high school and university students or JPY 100 for primary and junior high school pupils. It is separate from general worship and excluded from course costs.

East for ruins, officially 15 minutes from Yoshinogari-Koen. West is nearer play areas.
Does Karatsu Castle admission include the lift?
Adult admission 500 and park-lift single 100 are separate. Internal keep stairs remain even using the lift.
