Chichu Art Museum brings Monet’s Water Lilies together with Tadao Ando’s architecture. Most of the building is underground, but natural light changes the appearance of its artworks and spaces throughout the day.

Admission
Online adult admission costs ¥2,500 on weekdays or ¥2,700 on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. On-site prices are ¥2,800 on weekdays or ¥3,000 on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. Visitors 15 and under enter free. Reserve a date and admission time. When online tickets are sold out, on-site tickets are not sold that day either.
Opening hours
The museum opens 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with last admission at 4:00 p.m. It closes Mondays, but opens on public-holiday Mondays and closes the following day instead.

As you view Monet’s Water Lilies, take in the surrounding space and incoming light too. Natural light enters Tadao Ando’s building, changing the appearance of the artworks and spaces throughout the day.
How to get to Chichu Art Museum · 地中美術館
From Miyanoura Port, take the town bus to Tsutsuji-so. Transfer to the free shuttle and get off at the Chichu Ticket Center, then walk to the museum entrance. G on the official map around Benesse House marks the ticket center and shuttle stop. Follow the pedestrian path toward Chichu Art Museum, shown separately to the southwest. Arriving at the ticket center does not mean you have entered the museum. Allow time to walk to the entrance and wait for admission so you reach it for your reservation.

Visit tips
Island travel around your admission time
Choose the date and admission time for your ticket, then select boats and island buses that get you there in time. The shuttle stops at the ticket center, which is separate from the museum entrance; allow time to walk between them.

Chichu Art Museum closes for maintenance January 12–March 19, 2027. Do not include a museum visit during this period. For other dates, check both the opening calendar and available reservation times.
