Admission
Permanent-exhibition admission is ¥500 for adults age 18 and over and ¥250 for college students, who must show student ID. High school students and younger, or visitors under 18, enter free with proof. Special exhibitions cost extra.
Opening hours
The second- and third-floor exhibition rooms and children's activity area are open 9 a.m.–5 p.m.; ticket sales end at 4:30 p.m. The first floor is open 9 a.m.–9 p.m. Plan an exhibition visit around the exhibition-room hours, rather than the first floor's later closing.

Visit tips
Tuesday closures differ by floor
The second- and third-floor exhibition rooms and children's activity area close every Tuesday; the first floor closes on the third Tuesday of each month. If that day is a public holiday, closure moves to the next weekday. The whole museum closes December 29–January 3. Check temporary closure notices before visiting.
