Four Nights in Mito, with Fukuroda Falls across Five Days

Stay four nights in Mito to visit the historic school and garden at a relaxed pace and include the falls. Give Kodokan and Kairakuen separate days, followed by a day each for the park, falls, and aquarium. Stay in Mito after the falls, rather than connecting directly to a Tokyo-bound limited express.

  1. Tokyo Station → Mito Station

Take a Hitachi or Tokiwa limited express that stops at Mito. Buy a base-fare ticket and an ordinary-class reserved-seat limited-express ticket in advance, and check the departure and stops in the official timetable for your travel date.

Does the five-day transportation and admission subtotal include hotels?

No. The ¥17,760 subtotal for each itinerary is an October reference for one adult, adding Tokyo–Mito limited-express round-trip travel, transportation to the park, falls, and aquarium, and admission to Kodokan, Kairakuen, park, falls, and aquarium. What does the museum offer beyond Kodokan?

Kodokan is a historic educational facility. The museum's 2026 permanent-gallery exhibitions cover the Mito Tokugawa family, Showa-era city history, food-related tools, and horse-shaped folk toys. The museum itinerary visits both exhibition sections on the second day. They are scheduled from 2026-06-13 through late May 2027; check closures and exhibition changes. These displays do not remain indefinitely. Outside the period, or during changes or closure, confirm new free exhibits for your date. If unconfirmed, choose the itinerary with Kodokan and Kairakuen on separate days. Special exhibitions charge separately.

Can one Tokyo Wide Pass cover the Tokyo–Mito round trip over five days?

The first-day departure and fifth-day return cannot both fit within one consecutive three-day pass. Even if you use it for the middle three days, budget separately for the Tokyo–Mito limited expresses at both ends. Park buses, Oarai's Kashima Rinkai Railway and tourist buses, the falls return bus, and admission are also excluded. Both five-day itinerary subtotals use standard tickets without a pass.
