Visit Kochi Castle for its historic buildings and city views, then eat at nearby Hirome Market. Combine Katsurahama's coast with the Ryoma exhibits in one day. For a garden walk or a look at Tosa washi, consider Makino Botanical Garden and Ino Paper Museum. Nikobuchi requires about 4 km of round-trip walking from the bus stop, so allow time for the walk and return bus.

Kochi Castle

Explore the Edo-period keep and main enclosure palace at Kochi Castle, then look over Kochi City from the keep. Visit the keep and Kaitokukan together to see the historic castle interiors. A park walk and paid entry inside the buildings are separate.
- AdmissionIndividual admission to the keep, Kaitokukan, and related buildings is ¥500 for ages 18 and older; visitors under 18 enter free with proof of age. The combined ticket with Kochi Castle Museum of History is separate.
- HoursHours are 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with last admission at 4:30 p.m. The castle buildings close December 26–January 1.
- Getting ThereFrom Kochi-Ekimae, take a tram south to Harimayabashi, then transfer toward Ino. Get off at Kochijo-mae and walk to the castle park and keep. The final section includes stairs; the tram stop is not the keep entrance.
- What to SeeThe Edo-period keep and main enclosure palace survive, and you can see Kochi City from the keep.

- Getting ThereThe tourism association estimates about a 15-minute walk from JR Kochi Station. From Ohashidori tram stop, the market’s official estimate is about 2 minutes and the tourism association’s is about 3 minutes. These estimates exclude travel from your hotel address and tram waits.

Katsurahama Park

Enjoy Katsurahama’s sea and coastal scenery. For Ryoma exhibits too, visit the museum first and then explore the coast. Swimming is prohibited. Check separate admission and hours if visiting the aquarium.
- Opening InformationThe park is free, available 24 hours, and has no regular closure days. Shops, paid attractions, and parking have separate hours.
- ParkingRegular passenger-car parking costs ¥500 per vehicle for one entry per day. This price follows the April 1, 2026 revision; charged entry hours are 8:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Distinguish per-person attraction fees from per-vehicle parking charges.
- Getting ThereFrom JR Kochi Station, take a Katsurahama-bound route bus or MY Yu Bus. Get off at Katsurahama and walk into the park. MY Yu travels via Godaisan and differs from the direct route bus.

Sakamoto Ryoma Memorial Museum
高知県立坂本龍馬記念館
Explore Sakamoto Ryoma’s life and late-Edo history at the memorial museum. After the exhibits, continue to Katsurahama’s beach on the MY Yu Bus. Leave time to return to the stop and catch the next bus.
- AdmissionAdmission for ages 18 and older is ¥900 during special exhibitions and ¥500 otherwise; high school students and younger enter free. There is no separate reduced price for visiting only the permanent exhibition during a special exhibition, so check your travel date’s exhibits.
- HoursHours are 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with last admission at 4:30 p.m. The museum is open year-round, but some galleries close during exhibition changes. The facility estimates about 90 minutes to visit the new and main buildings.

Nikobuchi

See the gorge’s water colors known as Niyodo Blue at Nikobuchi. Light, rain, and water conditions change the color. Do not enter the water or eat in the gorge.
- Hours and CostsAn environmental conservation contribution box stands at the path entrance. The tourism council requests a voluntary ¥100 contribution per person; distinguish it from mandatory admission. Check path-access and crowding notices and on-site guidance before visiting.
- By CarThe official tourism council estimates about 70 minutes from Kochi City. Waits, parking, and walking to the gorge are extra. Set navigation for Green Park Hodono as directed in official guidance, and watch for Nikobuchi parking signs about 5 km before that destination. The area has five marked parking areas and temporary space when full. Do not park on unmarked roadsides. The new path has slopes and low steps, so check access and surface conditions on your visit date. If you are unfamiliar with mountain driving, compare transport using the official sightseeing taxi guide.
- By BusFrom JR Ino Station, take a bus toward Hodono Iriguchi or Nagasawa and get off at Hodono Iriguchi. Walk about 2 km to reach the gorge. The adult one-way fare is ¥1,430; allow about 30 minutes for the one-way walk. First choose an Ino-bound return from your travel date’s weekday or holiday timetable.

Makino Botanical Garden

Explore tropical plants and a waterside garden in Makino Botanical Garden’s greenhouse. The observation deck offers a look down at palm leaves. For time to walk around the garden, visit on a different day from Katsurahama. Four-night A gives a day each to the garden and coast.
- AdmissionRegular admission is ¥850; high school students and younger enter free. During the orchid exhibition February 6–28, 2027, regular admission is ¥1,700.
- HoursHours are 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with last admission at 4:30 p.m. The garden closes December 27–January 1, plus separate maintenance days including October 26 and November 30, 2026. Check your travel date’s calendar.
- Getting ThereFrom JR Kochi Station, take the MY Yu Bus and get off at Makino Shokubutsuen Seimon-mae (garden main gate). Walk through the main gate. From the airport, transfer from the airport bus to MY Yu; the airport bus does not go to the garden gate. The grounds include slopes, level changes, and narrow sections.

Ino Town Paper Museum
INOTOWN PAPER MUSEUMいの町紙の博物館
Explore exhibits on Tosa washi history and how paper is made at Ino Town Paper Museum. Choose a separate workshop if you want to make paper yourself. You can visit on the move to Ino, but a temporary closure is scheduled for November 16, 2026–March 31, 2027, so exclude the museum during that period.
- AdmissionRegular adult admission is ¥500. Papermaking costs a separate ¥500; workshop participants pay ¥400 admission, totaling ¥900 for admission and the workshop. Do not add the workshop fee for an exhibits-only visit.
- HoursHours are 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. The museum closes Mondays (the following day if Monday is a public holiday) and December 27–January 4. A temporary renovation closure is scheduled for November 16, 2026–March 31, 2027; exclude museum visits from Ino stays during that period.
- Getting ThereThe official walk from JR Ino Station to the museum is about 10 minutes. The Nikobuchi bus boarding point and museum entrance are different places, so distinguish their order in your visit.

Does the Ryoma museum always cost ¥500?
No. Admission for ages 18 and older is ¥900 during special exhibitions and ¥500 at other times. During a special exhibition, there is no separate discounted ticket for viewing only the permanent exhibition.
Can I reach Nikobuchi by bus?
From Ino Station, take a bus toward Hodono Iriguchi or Nagasawa, get off at Hodono Iriguchi, and walk about 2 km. The round-trip walk alone is about 4 km, so plan your time at the gorge and your return service together. Check the operator's weekday and weekend schedules separately so you do not choose a weekday-only service for a weekend return.
