Admission

Honmaru square is free. Keep admission is JPY 520 for adults or JPY 160 for primary school students. Return ropeway or chairlift costs JPY 520 for adults or JPY 260 for children, separate from keep admission; both adult items total JPY 1,040. Chairlift users must be primary-school age or older.

Opening hours

The keep and Ninomaru historic garden usually open 09:00–17:00, extending to 17:30 in August or closing at 16:30 in December–January. Keep admission ends 30 minutes earlier: usually 16:30, August 17:00, December–January 16:00. Both close the third Wednesday in December. Ropeway usually runs 08:30–17:30, until 18:00 in August or 17:00 in December–January. Chairlift runs 08:30–17:00 and stops in rain.

Walk Honmaru for city views and explore the old keep's structure inside. You can enjoy square views without entering the keep.

How to get to Matsuyama Castle

Get off at Okaido tram stop and walk about five minutes to Shinonomeguchi. Take the ropeway, then walk from the upper station to Honmaru and the keep. For interior viewing, allow this extra summit walk.

Walking continues after the ropeway

Even by ropeway or chairlift, walk from the upper station to Honmaru and the keep. The keep has no lift and steep stairs. If climbing is difficult, enjoy Honmaru views instead.

Can I see views without entering the keep?

Yes. Honmaru square overlooks Matsuyama without keep admission. The square is free; ropeway users walk there from the upper station.
