Admission

The main enclosure plaza is free. Keep admission costs ¥520 for adults and ¥160 for elementary school students. Ropeway or chairlift round trips cost ¥520 for adults and ¥260 for children, separate from keep admission. Adult keep admission plus round-trip transportation totals ¥1,040. The chairlift is available from elementary school age.

Opening hours

The keep and Ninomaru Historic Garden usually open 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., until 5:30 p.m. in August and 4:30 p.m. in December–January. Keep admission ends 30 minutes before closing: usually 4:30 p.m., 5:00 p.m. in August, and 4:00 p.m. in December–January. Both the keep and Ninomaru Historic Garden close on the third Wednesday in December. The ropeway usually operates 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m., until 6:00 p.m. in August and 5:00 p.m. in December–January. The chairlift operates 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. and stops during rain.

How to get to Matsuyama Castle

Get off at the Okaido tram stop and walk about five minutes to Shinonomeguchi ropeway station. Take the ropeway to the upper station, then continue on foot to the main enclosure and keep. For a keep visit, allow this additional walking time.

Walking continues after the ropeway

Even with the ropeway or chairlift, you walk from the upper station to the main enclosure and keep. The keep has no elevator and has steep stairs. If climbing stairs is difficult, enjoy the main enclosure's views instead.

Can I see the views without entering the keep?

Yes. The main enclosure plaza overlooks Matsuyama even without keep admission. Access to the plaza is free. If arriving by ropeway, walk there from the upper station.
