How to get to Sakurajima Visitor Center

The visitor centre is about 10 minutes' walk from Sakurajima Port. Walk there after the ferry to see exhibitions before beginning island sightseeing.

Before you visit

Continuing to the observatory after exhibitions

Leave time after the displays to walk to the bus stop. The centre stays open until 17:00, but buses depart according to each stop's timetable. Choose the observatory-bound service and return to the port in advance.

Should groups contact Sakurajima Visitor Center before visiting?

The centre asks groups of ten or more to contact it in advance. Enquire with your date and numbers for a group visit. General exhibition admission is free.
