Day 1
- Kagoshima-Chuo Station → Sengan-en visit
Take the daytime City View bus from east stand 4 at the east-side bus terminal and get off at Sengan-en. This loop visits Shiroyama first. Follow the operator's entrance guidance to explore the garden, residence and Shoko Shuseikan. Add museum and walking time to the suggested 90 minutes for the garden and residence alone.

- Sengan-en → Tenmonkan meal and Chuo Station
After sightseeing, take City View in the same loop direction. For dinner in Tenmonkan, get off on the return section through the city. If based near Chuo Station, stay on to the terminus, eat and continue to your accommodation.

Sengan-en admits visitors until 16:30 and closes at 17:00. If arriving late, move it to another day with enough time for the garden and museum.
Day 2
- Kagoshima-Chuo Station → Kagoshima Port and Sakurajima Port
Take daytime City View from east stand 4 to Kagoshima Suizokukan-mae (Sakurajima Sanbashi), following the loop via Shiroyama and Sengan-en first. Walk about one minute to Kagoshima Port terminal and use the passenger boarding entrance on Level 2. The ferry crossing takes about 15 minutes, or about 20 in some weather. Allow time for disembarking and moving through the terminal.

- Sakurajima Port → Visitor centre exhibitions
Disembark on Level 3 at Sakurajima Port, pay the fare and go down to ground level. Walk about 10 minutes from the port to the visitor centre to see models of landform changes and volcanic material. Admission is free and hours are 09:00–17:00.

- Visitor centre → Yunohira Observatory and Sakurajima Port
After the exhibitions, take Island View from the visitor centre stop to Yunohira Observatory. See the rugged volcanic slopes and Kinko Bay, then take a bus to Sakurajima Port. Yunohira timetable entries are departure times. Choose a return service allowing time to finish sightseeing and reach the stop. Do not extend your visit assuming another bus will run after the last service.

- Sakurajima Port → Kagoshima Port and aquarium bus stop
After the island bus, go up to Level 3 of Sakurajima Port terminal, pay the return fare and board the Kagoshima Port ferry. Disembark on Level 2 at Kagoshima Port and walk outside to the aquarium City View stop. Allow walking and waiting time between the island bus and ferry, and between disembarking and boarding the city bus.

- Aquarium bus stop → Kagoshima-Chuo Station and accommodation
Take daytime City View from the aquarium stop to the Chuo Station terminus. It runs via Waterfront Park, Kinseicho and Tenmonkan. Continue to your accommodation after returning to the station. Check your date's return service and allow time to wait at the stop.
Check volcanic and road conditions, ferry operation and island buses separately for your date. Choose onward buses after the visitor centre and observatory before visiting. The western loop bus does not cover the whole island.
Day 3
- Kagoshima-Chuo Station → Shiroyama Observatory
Take daytime City View from east stand 4 and get off at Shiroyama. Follow signs to the observatory for views of the city, Kinko Bay and Sakurajima. Plan the full nature trail separately.

- Shiroyama Observatory → Kagoshima-Chuo Station and departure
Return from the observatory to the stop and take the bus in the same loop direction. It returns to Chuo Station via Sengan-en and the aquarium, so allow for the loop journey and waits when choosing your final departure.

Coordinate the City View return to Chuo Station after sightseeing with your final departure. The loop returns via Sengan-en and the aquarium, so allow time for the return journey and waits.
Included: Sengan-en JPY 1,600, ferry return JPY 500, Island View one-day pass JPY 500 and six City View rides at JPY 230 totalling JPY 1,380.

Choose an Ibusuki-Makurazaki Line local train stopping at Ibusuki. Walk about 20 minutes from the station to Saraku. Add walking, reception queues and changing time to the train's arrival before scheduling your experience.

- Saraku → Sand bath and hot spring
Enjoy a sand bath, use the hot spring and rest. The standard JPY 1,500 basic package includes a hire yukata; bring a towel separately. Sand-bath reception pauses 12:00–13:00 on weekdays and generally closes at 20:00. Check special-price periods and maintenance closures on the operator's calendar.
- Saraku → Ibusuki Station and Kagoshima-Chuo Station
Walk about 20 minutes back to the station and return to Chuo Station by local train. Work backwards from your return train, allowing time to change, walk to the station and prepare to board, to decide when to finish bathing. Eat near Chuo Station, then return to the same city accommodation.

Day 3
- Kagoshima-Chuo-Ekimae → Aquarium exhibitions
Take route 2 tram towards Kagoshima-Ekimae, get off at Suizokukan-guchi and walk about 8 minutes to the aquarium. Explore the large tank and exhibits after opening at 09:30. Add both walking legs and tram waits to the average 90-minute visit. Admission is until 17:00 and normal closing is 18:00.

- Aquarium → Kagoshima-Chuo Station
Walk about 8 minutes back to Suizokukan-guchi and take route 2 tram towards Chuo Station. Continue from the station to your accommodation or next departure point. Connect airport transport separately.
Choose your departure allowing the walk and tram back to the station after the aquarium. The aquarium regularly closes for four days from the first Monday in December; also check changes for your visit date.

Does the Kagoshima city one-day pass also cover Sakurajima?
The municipal tram, municipal bus and City View one-day pass excludes the Sakurajima ferry and Island View. Buy the adult ferry return at JPY 500 and island-loop Island View one-day pass at JPY 500 separately.

Can you make an Ibusuki sand-bath day trip by train?
Yes. Take a local train from Chuo Station that stops at Ibusuki. Saraku is about 20 minutes' walk from the station. Sand-bath reception pauses 12:00–13:00 on weekdays, so check this against train arrival. Allow the walk back to the station. The itinerary's JPY 2,340 JR return is the ordinary fare; sightseeing limited-express travel adds limited-express and reserved-seat charges.
