Cairns Airport ↔ Osaka Kansai International Airport: counter, flight number and disruption steps

For Jetstar’s Cairns–Kansai service, use Cairns Terminal 1 International and find the day’s counter on the screen. On the return, Kansai Airport places Jetstar international check-in on Terminal 1’s fourth floor, then asks passengers to verify the flight board.

Search the flight number before leaving for the airport

The numbers below identify the planned service in the airline’s checked schedule. They are not a live result. Search the operating flight number and local departure date through Jetstar Airways, then check the airport board for the current counter.

Find your flight, counter and document guide

Search an operating number in either direction. The guide shows the route and check-in location; open the airline’s official search for your travel date’s times and status.

Choose airports or an airline without entering a number to browse checked services in either direction. Spaces and leading zeros are accepted. The date is a reminder for the official lookup, not a timetable filter: a guide match does not confirm operation on that date. This is not a live status feed.

Planned service reference

Australia to Japan

JQ15: Cairns → Kansai

Jetstar’s 29 March–24 October 2026 timetable lists JQ15/JQ16 on different days by direction. Confirm the date before travelling; the table is not a live-status feed.

Japan to Australia

JQ16: Kansai → Cairns

For the return journey, look up the same operating airline at the Japanese airport on your departure day.

Where to find the counter

Cairns Airport → Japan

Terminal 1 International. Jetstar lists Cairns Terminal 1 for international flights and Terminal 2 for domestic flights. Use the international departure display for the desk assigned to your JQ flight; a domestic counter is not the starting point for a direct Japan service.

Use the departure board for the operating flight to identify today’s desk and opening time.

Osaka Kansai International Airport → Australia

Jetstar international check-in: Terminal 1, 4th floor. Kansai Airport says Jetstar’s international check-in counters are on the fourth floor of Terminal 1. It also says the counter position can change on the day, so confirm the flight board or Today’s Flight Information before queuing.

Delay or cancellation document

Jetstar does not describe a universal self-serve delay certificate on its Australian support page. It provides a request path for insurance documentation and says its team will email the document within five days. Use that request when an insurer or employer asks for evidence, and check the document wording they require.

Check-in, baggage drop and local dates

For Jetstar Airways (JQ) international flights, airport check-in and bag drop open 3 hours before departure and check-in closes 1 hour before departure. Be at the gate 50 minutes before departure; the gate closes 20 minutes before departure. These are scheduled-departure times unless Jetstar tells you otherwise during a delay. Jetstar Japan (GK) has different rules.

CNS uses Australia/Brisbane; KIX uses Asia/Tokyo. Overnight flights can arrive on a different calendar day. Use the scheduled local departure date for status and document searches; Australia’s daylight-saving changes do not apply to every departure city.

If this flight changes on the day

  1. Confirm that the flight number and operating airline match your booking; codeshares can be handled elsewhere.
  2. Ask the counter for the revised departure time, rebooking or refund path, and checked-baggage plan.
  3. Save the airline message, flight status and any case number. If you need evidence, use the official document path above rather than treating a screenshot as a certificate.
  4. Report damaged, missing or delayed baggage to the operating airline before leaving the airport.

This route’s outbound and return days are not the same pattern. Keep the JQ flight number and local departure date together when checking a delay, rescheduling or document request.
