One night: coast by train or a stay in Obi?
Stay one night near Miyazaki Station to visit Aoshima and Miyazaki Jingu without a car. Walk the island and coast on day one, then visit the city shrine the next day. For separate days in Obi Castle Town and Udo Jingu, hire a car and stay one night in Nichinan. Leave Aoshima island before sunset, and check Udo's restrictions and walk from parking for your date.

- Obi tourist car park → Castle town and optional indoor attractions
Park and walk the lanes around the castle. For an indoor visit, an adult single-site ticket to the history museum costs JPY 300. Its preservation association lists opening from 09:30 to 16:30. Arrive with time to explore indoors and check temporary closures separately. If you arrive late and cannot confirm opening or last admission, skip the indoor visit and walk the streets around the castle. The association's JPY 800 combined ticket covers six facilities. Check which are open before comparing it with a single-site ticket.

Toyota's official pricing distinguishes 6, 12 and 24 hours, each further 24-hour period and overtime, with rates varying by vehicle, region and dates. A one-night stay does not automatically mean a 24-hour hire. This is a way to check conditions if you choose Toyota, not confirmation of availability or a price for this itinerary. For a trip without a car, compare one-night itinerary A based near Miyazaki Station. To visit both Udo and Obi by public transport over two days, first confirm your dates' bus connections and the diverted walking route at Udo.
Day 2
- Accommodation in Nichinan → Udo tourist car park
Drive from your accommodation to Udo Jingu. The latest official access notice says a road collapse prevents access to car parks 1 and 2, and directs visitors to the tourist car park about 20 minutes' walk from the main sanctuary. Check for updated reopening or route notices before leaving and follow the current parking instructions.

Collect your car from the tourist car park and drive towards the return branch specified in your contract. Refuel as required, then complete the staff vehicle inspection and settle any additional charges. Allow separate time to travel from the branch to your actual train or flight departure point.
Car return proceduresCar return and fuel settlementUdo access and opening
Udo's operator lists about 60 minutes from Miyazaki city via Route 220, or about 20 minutes from Nichinan city. These are not exact times from your booked accommodation to the tourist car park or from the shrine to your return branch. Work backwards from your final departure procedures, allowing the return walk and worship, driving, refuelling and car return. Do not extend the visit simply because general access is listed as 06:00–18:00. Choose a flight for this itinerary only after checking the latest road conditions, actual return branch and departure time.
Toyota supplies cars with a full tank and charges for fuel under its rules if you do not refuel before return. Follow your booked provider's return and refuelling conditions. Check whether return is to the same branch and the charges for exceeding your contracted time in the quote.
Included: General worship at Udo and outdoor walks in Obi are free. Optional indoor visits cost JPY 300 per adult for a single history museum ticket or JPY 800 for the combined ticket.
Extra costs and conditions: Essential costs are car hire from collection on day 1 to return on day 2, fuel and parking used. Accommodation, meals and departure transport are extra. Add tolls if using toll roads.
Even with free outdoor attractions, itinerary B requires car hire across two days and fuel. Obi Castle Tourist Car Park is free for ordinary passenger cars; check Udo tourist car park and accommodation parking fees with the facilities you will use. Obtain an official hire quote using your collection and return dates and times, vehicle, cover, options and return branch. Add tolls if choosing toll roads.
