Tokushima attractions: performance, strait and valley fees and access
Choose the Kaikan for dance performances, or Bizan for city views. Match Uzunomichi's whirlpool visit with the tide table. For close-up valley views, compare Iya's vine bridge and the Oboke cruise, arranging western transport and accommodation first.

Awa Odori Kaikan
阿波おどり会館
Even outside the summer festival, you can watch Awa Odori at the Kaikan and learn movements in the audience participation segment. Daytime shows last 40 minutes; arrive by the start time if adding one to your arrival day.
- AdmissionDaytime shows cost JPY 1,300 for adults and JPY 700 for primary and junior high school students. Evening shows cost JPY 1,600 for adults and JPY 800 for primary and junior high school students. Museum tickets are separate.
- PerformancesRegular daytime shows start at 11:00, 14:00, 15:00 and 16:00 and last 40 minutes; the 20:00 evening show lasts 50 minutes. Regular shows pause on 11–15 August; festival special performances have different dates and fees. The Kaikan closes the second Wednesday of February, June, September and December, or the following day if a public holiday, plus 28 December–1 January. Performance notices take priority for temporary changes.
- BookingsIndividuals and small groups do not book standard regular shows in advance. Arrive for the performance time and buy tickets. Groups of 20 or more have separate booking guidance.
- Getting thereWalk from Tokushima Station to the Kaikan and go to the Level 2 theatre. Bizan Ropeway departs from Level 5 of the same building.

Bizan Ropeway

Choose this for city, river and sea-facing views. Visibility depends on weather. You can take it from the same building on a performance day.
- AdmissionJunior high school students and older pay JPY 1,500 return or JPY 900 one way. Primary school students pay JPY 800 return or JPY 500 one way.
- HoursThe ropeway operates 09:00–21:00 in April–October and 09:00–17:30 in November–March. Inspections or bad weather may suspend services.
- Getting thereBoard at the lower station on Level 5 of the Kaikan and get off at the upper station. The ride takes about six minutes, with waiting and viewpoint walks extra.

Uzunomichi
Uzunomichi Whirlpool Walkway大鳴門橋遊歩道 渦の道
Walk beneath the bridge at Uzunomichi for views down over Naruto Strait. The glass floor lets you see the sea and currents beneath your feet. Whirlpool timing and size vary by day; plan around your date's tide table.
- AdmissionAdmission costs JPY 510 for adults, JPY 410 for secondary school students and JPY 260 for primary school students; children under six enter free.
- HoursThe walkway opens 09:00–18:00 in March–September, with last admission at 17:30, and 09:00–17:00 in October–February, with last admission at 16:30. Golden Week and summer holidays have separate hours. It closes on the second Monday of March, June, September and December; an additional closure is announced for 14–16 December 2026.
- Getting thereTake a Naruto Park-bound bus from Tokushima Station, then walk about five minutes from the stop. The facility gives about 80 minutes' bus travel, excluding waits. For driving, follow its guidance and set navigation for the Onaruto Bridge Crossing Memorial Hall Eddy; entering only Uzunomichi may direct you elsewhere.
- What to seeLook down over Naruto Strait from the walkway beneath the bridge and its glass floor. Whirlpool viewing depends on tide times.

Iya Kazurabashi
Iya-no-Kazurabashi祖谷のかずら橋
Cross a vine bridge over the valley. If gaps in the floor or movement worry you, look at the bridge on site before deciding. You can choose not to cross.
- AdmissionCrossing costs JPY 550 for junior high school students and older and JPY 350 for primary school students; preschool children enter free. Kazurabashi Yumebutai parking costs a separate JPY 500 per standard car and cannot be reserved.
- HoursThe bridge opens 08:00–18:00 in April–June, 07:30–18:30 in July–August and 08:00–17:00 in September–March. Check bad-weather operating changes separately.
- Getting thereContinue from JR Oboke Station by bus or taxi. Iya Kazurabashi differs from the Oku-Iya double vine bridges; choose the correct destination. Official guidance gives about five minutes' walking from Kazurabashi or Kazurabashi Yumebutai bus stop. For driving, set navigation for Yumebutai car park and walk through the facility towards the bridge. Bus users return to the stop where they got off. Check buses for your date and accommodation transfers first.
Wakimachi Udatsu Townscape
Udatsu Townscape脇町うだつの町並み
Walk slowly through Wakimachi's Udatsu Townscape to explore historic house roofs and walls. Udatsu walls remain between houses, built to stop fire spreading. Choose the street walk separately from paid Yoshida Residence interior admission.
- Fees and hoursDistinguish the street walk from house interiors. Ailand Udatsu, the connected visitor base, opens 09:00–17:30 and closes 27 December–1 January. The Yoshida Residence costs JPY 510 for adults or JPY 250 for children and opens 09:00–17:00, with last admission at 16:30. Individual shop hours differ.
- Getting thereDrive to Ailand Udatsu's passenger-car park. Official tourism guidance gives about one hour and five minutes from Tokushima city or seven minutes from Wakimachi IC. The 39-space standard car park differs from the tour-bus park. Confirm fees with the facility. After parking, walk towards the Yoshida Residence to enter the streets.

Oboke Gorge cruise
Oboke Gorge Pleasure Cruise大歩危峡観光遊覧船
Look up at Oboke Gorge from a boat. The approximately 30-minute cruise follows the river and returns to the same landing. The two-night Iya itinerary visits it on a different day from the bridge. Strong winds or high river levels may change services.
- AdmissionThe operator's current fare is JPY 1,800 for adults or JPY 900 for ages three through primary school. The tourism association's JPY 1,500 adult fare predates the September 2026 increase. Use the operator's current fare when planning.
- Hours and bookingsCruises operate 09:00–17:00, with the last departure at 16:30. The ride takes about 30 minutes. Individuals and groups buy tickets without reservations at the Level 1 counter. Strong winds or high water may cancel trips; low water may shorten the route. Ticketing and waiting are extra to the 30-minute ride.
- Getting thereDrive from accommodation to Obokekyo Mannaka in Nishiu, Yamashirocho, Miyoshi. Park, buy tickets at the Level 1 counter and go to the landing. From JR Oboke Station, the tourism association gives about 25 minutes on foot or five minutes by car. Actual accommodation-to-facility driving time and parking conditions need separate checks using your accommodation address.

Whirlpools may be absent at some times. Check Uzunomichi's tide table for your date alongside last admission.
Do regular Awa Odori shows require booking?
Individuals and small groups arrive for the show without advance reservations. Groups of 20 or more have separate booking arrangements. Regular shows pause on 11–15 August; do not apply normal times and fees during that period.
Do I need to pay Yoshida Residence admission for the Udatsu streets?
Distinguish street walks from house interiors. The optional residence costs JPY 510 for adults or JPY 250 for children. It opens 09:00–17:00, last admission 16:30; street shops have individual hours.
