Three days in Kawaguchiko: viewpoint or displays?

Stay two nights in Kawaguchiko and spread out the north shore and indoor displays. For elevated Fuji views, ride the ropeway on the first afternoon and walk Oishi Park on day two. For Fuji displays and lake-level scenery, visit the north shore on the first morning and the World Heritage Center and Appare on day two.

Use the Red Line for north-shore returns. For the World Heritage Center, use the Blue Line, then return via Kawaguchiko Station to the pier. Both itineraries visit the gem museum on the final day.

  2. Facility entrance → Mineral and gemstone displays

  3. Yamanashi Gem Museum → Return to station and accommodation

Explore gemstones and minerals in the morning, an indoor visit after the viewpoint and north-shore park on the previous days. Plan lunch and rest near the museum. Go to the Kawaguchiko Station-bound stop for your chosen return bus. As the same stop name appears again in the loop timetable, match museum departure and station arrival on the return section. Choose a bus you can reach after viewing, lunch and walking to the stop. Plan an afternoon departure, allowing for bus delays and station preparations. This visit does not fit a morning departure.

Check Wednesday-closure exceptions and the station-bound Red Line. Skip the exhibition if leaving in the morning on your final day.

Verified costs and exclusions: JPY 3,460 (partial total for one adult)

Included: Adult ropeway return JPY 1,000 through October 2026; adult JPY 1,500 bus day pass for the Kawaguchiko, Saiko and Motosuko sightseeing loops, used only on the north-shore park day; free Oishi Park walk; adult gem exhibition JPY 600 + regular station ↔ museum Red Line JPY 180 × 2 = JPY 960.

Extra costs and conditions: This subtotal excludes two nights' accommodation, meals, luggage storage, return travel outside the prefecture, separate activities and shopping. Extra paid station–hotel travel is excluded. This ropeway plan assumes you walk from the station; buses and taxis for that section are excluded.

This subtotal covers admission and only the listed local transport for one adult paying regular fares, checked on 8 October 2026. This is not a whole-trip budget including accommodation, meals and travel outside the prefecture. When the ropeway return fare changes to JPY 1,200 on 1 November 2026, the partial total becomes JPY 3,660 if other items remain unchanged. Here, the bus day pass is used only on the north-shore park day; return buses on other days use regular fares. Compare regular tickets with one- or two-day passes against actual rides if adding bus journeys. Recheck fares, opening and services for your date.

North-shore park, World Heritage displays, boat trip and gem museum

Choose option B to learn about Mount Fuji through displays and take a lake boat trip. Visit Oishi Park on day one, the World Heritage Center and Appare on day two, and the gem museum on the final day.

Day 1 · Kawaguchiko Station → Oishi Park → accommodation

  1. Kawaguchiko Station → Oishi Park

Arrive in Kawaguchiko on the first morning and head to the north shore. Take the Red Line towards the Natural Living Center from station stand 1. Check station departure and terminus arrival alongside the return's centre departure and station arrival. Walk Oishi Park's paths by the stop and plan lunch and rest on the north shore. Flowers and Mount Fuji visibility depend on conditions that day.

  2. Oishi Park → Return to station and accommodation

The park walk is free; Natural Living Center shopping and activities cost extra. Return on the Red Line from the station-bound Natural Living Center stop. Match centre departure and station arrival in your date's timetable and choose a bus you can reach after the visit, lunch and walk to the stop. Road congestion may delay arrival at your hotel. Day 2 · World Heritage Center displays and Appare circular cruise

  1. Kawaguchiko Station stand 1 → Blue Line → World Heritage Center

From the same station stand 1, take the Blue Line towards Motosuko. Match station departure and Fujisan World Heritage Center arrival in the same service column for your date, and choose a return service. This differs from the Red Line to the park. Number 65 is the centre's stop number, rather than boarding stand 65. The official guide allows about one minute on foot from the stop to Yamanashi Prefectural Fujisan World Heritage Center.

  2. Facility entrance → North and south building displays

In the morning, explore nature displays in the north building and culture displays in the south. Learn about the Mount Fuji you viewed from the north shore yesterday; both buildings have free admission. The centre is usually open from 9 am to 5 pm, from 8:30 am to 6 pm in July–August and from 9 am to 4:30 pm in December–February. The facility guide lists last admission 15 minutes before closing, while its official FAQ gives a different time of 4:30 pm. For a late visit, confirm last entry directly first. The south building closes on the fourth Tuesday each month, or the following day if it is a public holiday. The north is listed as open year-round; check temporary notices before visiting. Individual visits need no reservation. Guided visits and programmes have separate conditions.

  3. World Heritage Center stop → Blue Line → Kawaguchiko Station

After viewing, go to the station-bound Blue Line stop. Match centre departure with station arrival in the timetable for your date and choose a service after finishing the visit. The regular adult fare between station and centre is JPY 180 one way, taken from the official fare table; recheck it for your date. Allow walking to the stop and waiting beyond riding time before planning the afternoon pier visit.

  4. Kawaguchiko Station → Funatsu pier → Appare circular cruise

Return from the centre to the station, have lunch and rest, then go to Funatsu pier. The operator allows about 10 minutes on foot to the ticket office and pier, opposite the prefectural free Funatsu car park. This entrance differs from the lakeside ropeway station across National Route 137. Check your date against regular, summer and winter sailing periods and scheduled suspensions, then choose an afternoon Appare service. Allow time for the centre return, lunch, pier walk and ticket queue; the roughly 20-minute cruise returns to the same pier. Crowds, capacity and weather may prevent boarding your preferred service, so check availability at the pier. If Appare is suspended after your morning centre visit, skip the cruise and return to your station-area accommodation.

  5. Appare disembarkation → Kawaguchiko Station → same accommodation
