Two days: Nebuta first, Jomon ruins next

Stay one Aomori night, visiting station-area Nebuta exhibits first and Jomon ruins the next day. Choose this route to separate the visits without changing accommodation.

Day 1 · WA RASSE Nebuta exhibits and harbour walk

Visit indoor exhibits near the station on arrival day, then rest by the waterfront.

  1. Aomori Station → WA RASSE

    Walk east towards the waterfront. WA RASSE is roughly one minute from the station; adult exhibition admission is ¥620.

  2. WA RASSE exhibition hall → Harbour walk and Aomori overnight stay

    View Nebuta exhibits, then take a short waterfront walk if weather allows. Closing is 19:00 May–August or 18:00 September–April, with last entry 30 minutes earlier. For a late arrival, start with the harbour walk. To visit after next-day ruins, fit last entry around your booked departure train. If time is short, omit exhibits and subtract admission from costs.

Day 2 · Jomon ruins and indoor exhibits

Sannai-Maruyama Historical Site · 三内丸山遺跡

Explore pottery, clay figures and reconstructed daily-life displays, then the outdoor site. Start indoors if it rains.

  1. Aomori Station west-side stop 2 → Sannai-Maruyama site stop

    Take Nebutan-go to 三内丸山遺跡前. Adult fare is ¥300 per ride. Regular and specified-date timetables differ; check both journeys for your visit date before leaving.

  2. Bus-stop roundabout → Jomon Jiyukan and outdoor site

    Walk roughly one minute from the stop to Jomon Jiyukan’s ticket desk and entrance signs. Enter the site through this building. General admission ¥500 covers outdoor ruins and permanent exhibits; take a rest between visits. Special exhibitions and activities are separate.

  3. Red Nebutan-go sign outside the site → Aomori Station

    Check an Aomori Station-bound service and return to the same stop outside the site. Distinguish city-bus stops and Shin-Aomori-bound services. Return buses may be infrequent; fit viewing and meals around your return service.

Two days: Hirosaki Park and City Museum

Stay one night near Hirosaki Station. View castle gates and moats first and museum exhibits the next day. Both days walk between station and park.

Day 1 · Hirosaki Park gates and moat walk

Take your time walking past gates and moats, then spend the night in Hirosaki.

    Walk towards Dotemachi to Otemon. Official station walking time is roughly 30 minutes. Your starting point varies with accommodation location.

  2. Otemon → Sannomaru, moat and Hirosaki overnight stay

    Explore gates and moats in free walking areas. The keep interior is currently closed; stay outside construction areas. Check dated opening and fees separately before adding paid areas.

Day 2 · Hirosaki City Museum exhibits

Hirosaki City Museum · 弘前市立博物館

After yesterday’s park walk, visit museum exhibits before returning to Hirosaki Station.

  1. Park Otemon gate → City museum

    Follow the left arrow on the sign inside Otemon. Walk along the wooded path between tennis courts and the plaza, then turn right to the museum entrance.

  2. City museum → View exhibits

    This route uses ¥500 general admission for the exhibition on Sugae Masumi’s travels in Tsugaru, open 09:30–16:30. Check official exhibition guidance for your date, fees and closures. Other exhibition periods may have different content and costs.

  3. Museum and park → Hirosaki Station

    Leave through Otemon after viewing and return towards Hirosaki Station. Leave walking time; eat along the way if time allows.
