Two days in Fukuoka: which itinerary suits you?

With limited time between arrival and departure, choose one itinerary: Hakata and Tenjin, Ohori and the science museum, or Momochi and the tower. These plans assume one night near Hakata Station and a flight leaving late in the afternoon on day 2.

Momochi Beach and Fukuoka Tower

Choose this if coastal views are your priority and your flight leaves late on day 2. With bus waits and a return journey, this is the most sensitive of the three options to weather and flight times.

Day 1 · Airport → Hakata hotel → dinner in Tenjin or Hakata

  1. Airport International Terminal → Hakata Station and hotel

After your international arrival, take the free shuttle to the Domestic Terminal and the Airport Line to Hakata Station. Leave your bags at your Hakata hotel, then decide when to head out for dinner.

Departure-day sightseeing and airport transfers

How much sightseeing can I fit in before my flight?

Start with your airline’s recommended arrival time at the International Terminal and check-in deadline. For a morning flight, skip sightseeing and head to the airport. Even for a late-afternoon flight, you need time for the return trip from the attraction and collecting bags at your hotel.

At Hakata Station, take the Airport Line towards Fukuoka Airport and get off at the terminus. The station connects to the Domestic Terminal. Follow the gates marked for the international connecting bus and exits 1A or 2A up to the 1st floor. Take the free International Terminal shuttle from Domestic Terminal stop 1. Allow separately for waiting, the shuttle ride and walking to airline counters on the International Terminal’s 3rd floor. With a wheelchair or stroller, check the gates marked for the Domestic Terminal and the route via the south elevator.

The two-day science museum and Momochi itineraries return to your Hakata hotel after sightseeing on day 2. Confirm storage and collection of bags after checkout, and reduce sightseeing if departure procedures would be rushed. The aquarium is placed on a middle day in itineraries of two nights or more; visit it on a separate day rather than moving it to departure day.

Airport shuttleSubway connectionInternational departure procedures

Can I add a park or beach walk on the final day?

Check your flight first and reduce other sightseeing if you want to add the park or beach. For a morning flight, skip the walk.

For Ohori Park, take an Airport Line train towards Meinohama from Hakata or Tenjin, get off at Ohori-koen Station and follow the park map. For Momochi, walk from Nishijin Station along the route in the tower’s official access guide, then return the same way. Allow separately for the station-to-beach walk and check on-site restrictions.

If there’s too little time to collect bags at the hotel, take the Airport Line and International Terminal shuttle, and complete airline procedures, move the walk to the previous day. A beach walk alone does not add another observation deck admission fee.

Frequently asked questions

How should I plan a two-day Fukuoka trip with a morning flight home?

All three itineraries assume a late-afternoon departure on day 2. For a morning flight, skip day 2 sightseeing and visit only nearby areas such as Hakata or Tenjin on day 1, according to your arrival time. Leave time to reach the International Terminal and check in.
