Three days in Fukuoka: where should you go on day 2?
On day 2, explore the city and science museum or visit Marine World or Momochi Beach. All three itineraries keep you close to the airport on the final day.

Three days in Fukuoka for a first visit
This itinerary assumes an international arrival at Fukuoka Airport, two nights near Hakata Station and a flight on the afternoon of day 3 or later. Adjust the order if your flight leaves earlier or you’re staying in Tenjin. Morning and afternoon headings describe the order of activities, not train departure times.

Day 1 · Airport → Hakata → old town
- Airport International Terminal → Domestic Terminal
Complete immigration on the International Terminal’s 2nd floor, collect your bags on the 1st floor and clear customs. Head to free shuttle stop 5 outside Arrivals. Get off on the south side of the Domestic Terminal and use subway entrances 1A or 1B. The shuttle ride takes about 10 minutes; waiting and walking are extra.

- Airport station → Hakata hotel
Hakata is two stops away on the subway Airport Line. Leave your bags at the hotel; ask in advance about storage before check-in. Use the hotel address to identify the closest exit from Hakata Station.
- Hakata hotel → Old town or Tenjin
If you arrive late, keep dinner near Hakata Station. With more time, choose either the area around Kushida Shrine or Tenjin. The Hakata Station camera shows the street outside the station; use station and operator information for train service updates.
Day 2 · Park walk and city exhibitions
- Hakata Station → Ohori Park
Take the subway Airport Line from Hakata to Ohori-koen Station and walk to the park. The lakeside circuit is about 2 km, but you can walk just part of it. If you also want to visit the Japanese garden, check its opening arrangements and separate admission fee.

- Ohori Park → Science museum in Ropponmatsu
Have lunch around Ohori, then head to Ropponmatsu. The bus stop or walking route depends on your restaurant’s location. The museum is near exit 3 of Ropponmatsu Station on the Nanakuma Line. Adult admission to the 5th-floor basic exhibition is JPY 510; check Tuesday closures before leaving.

- Ropponmatsu Station → Tenjin or your Hakata hotel
After the museum, take the Nanakuma Line from Ropponmatsu towards Tenjin-minami or Hakata. If you’ll eat at a yatai in Tenjin, leave large bags at the hotel and check each stall’s location and payment methods.

If the museum is closed, spend more time in either Ohori Park or Momochi. For a trip with children, you could choose the Marine World itinerary for day 2. If walking is difficult, skip the full park circuit and check the distances from your hotel to the station and from bus stops to attractions.
Day 3 · Finish in Hakata before your flight
- Hakata hotel → Meal and short walk near the station
If time allows, eat near Hakata Station or take a short walk towards the old town. A return trip to Momochi or Uminonakamichi may leave too little time for the airport. Marine World requires a JR transfer at Kashii, so plan it for another day.

- Hakata Station → Airport International Terminal
Take the Airport Line from Hakata to Fukuoka Airport Station, then the free shuttle from Domestic Terminal stop 1 to the International Terminal. Allow separately for collecting bags, walking to the station, waiting for the shuttle, airline check-in and security.
For a morning flight, head straight to the airport. Eat or walk near the station only if you can still allow for the Airport Line journey, the free shuttle from Domestic Terminal stop 1, waiting and international departure procedures before the airline’s check-in deadline.
Included in the subtotal: Basic science exhibition: JPY 510
Costs not included: Subway, bus, JR and Nishitetsu fares; accommodation, meals, flights and shopping; optional planetarium shows, special exhibitions, museums and other paid visits. Remove the admission cost for any attraction you skip.

- Airport International Terminal → Hakata Station
Take the free shuttle from International Arrivals stop 5 to the south side of the Domestic Terminal. Use entrances 1A or 1B and take the Airport Line two stops to Hakata. Immigration and shuttle waits are not part of the train journey time.
- Hakata Station → Hotel and dinner
Leave your bags at your hotel if possible, then have dinner in Hakata.
Day 2 · JR from Hakata → transfer at Kashii → Uminonakamichi Station → Marine World → hotel
- Hakata Station → Kashii Station

Frequently asked questions
How much travel time should I allow for Marine World on a three-day trip?
The JR ride from Hakata to Kashii takes about 11 minutes, followed by about 20 minutes on the Kashii Line to Uminonakamichi and about 5 minutes’ walk to Marine World. These are train ride times and the walk from Uminonakamichi Station, excluding transfers and waiting. On the aquarium itinerary, visit on day 2 and check your return trains.
Can I use the subway day pass to reach Marine World?
No. This route uses JR from Hakata with a transfer at Kashii, so the subway day pass does not cover it. Budget separately for return JR fares.
How much is admission on the three-day itineraries?
Adult admission is JPY 510 for the science museum’s 5th-floor basic exhibition, JPY 2,500 for Marine World and JPY 1,000 for Fukuoka Tower’s observation deck. These itineraries do not visit all three; count only the attraction in your chosen plan. Transport, accommodation and meals are excluded.
