With four nights in Kagoshima, stay in Ibusuki or Kirishima?

For rest in Ibusuki after sand bathing, split the stay into two city nights, one in Ibusuki and a final city night. For the shrine and mountain park on separate days, compare one city night, two in Kirishima and a final city night. Both routes return to the city on day four for the last night. Include day-five sightseeing only if your booked departure leaves enough time.

City sightseeing after an Ibusuki stay

Split the trip into two city nights, one in Ibusuki and a final city night. Choose this route to rest in Ibusuki after sand bathing rather than returning immediately by JR. Visit the aquarium on your return day and Shiroyama on the final day.

Day 1

  1. Kagoshima-Chuo Station → Visit Sengan-en

Take the daytime City View bus from east bus terminal stop East 4 to Sengan-en. The loop goes via Shiroyama first. Follow the operator’s entrance guide to see the garden, residence and Shoko Shuseikan. Add museum visiting and travel time to the suggested 90 minutes for just the garden and residence.

Allow disembarkation and terminal walking time.
