When does this ticket suit your itinerary?

Compare it with individual fares if you will make several journeys between JR stations in central Tokyo. If you will also use the subway, include those separate fares and compare the Tokyo 1-Day Ticket.

Prices and child fares

JR East lists the Tokunai Pass at JPY 870 for adults aged 12 or over and JPY 430 for children aged 6–11. If you will also use a subway, add its separate fares before comparing this JR-only pass with the Tokyo 1-Day Ticket.

Covered trains and exclusions

The pass covers non-reserved Ordinary Car seats on eligible JR local and rapid trains within Tokyo’s 23 wards. Check the official map to confirm that your destination is inside the valid area. Tokyo Metro, Toei Subway and private railways require separate fares.

Buy from a JR EAST reserved-seat ticket machine within the coverage area. Choose Tokunai rather than the national Japan Rail Pass or JR TOKYO Wide Pass.

From purchase to boarding

  1. Check that your stations are on the designated JR lines within Tokyo’s 23 wards.

  2. At a JR EAST reserved-seat ticket machine within the coverage area, choose the Tokunai Pass and your travel date.

  3. Select adult, aged 12 or over, or child, aged 6–11, and check the ticket’s valid date.

  4. Pay separately when changing to the subway or a private railway. A JR-only ticket does not give access through subway gates.

Can I use it on the subway?

No. Tokyo Metro and Toei Subway are excluded. Tokunai is a ticket for designated JR sections.
