Main-hall rooms have paintings and carvings suited to their themes and different ceilings. Look at wall paintings and overhead decorations as you move between rooms.
How to get to Zuiganji
Take the JR Senseki Line from Sendai to Matsushima-Kaigan, then walk about 10 minutes to Zuiganji. Tohoku Main Line Matsushima is a different station; from there, walk about 25 minutes.
Before you visit
Matsushima-Kaigan and Matsushima are different stations
Zuiganji is about 10 minutes on foot from Matsushima-Kaigan or 25 minutes from Matsushima. From Sendai, check that your Senseki Line train stops at Matsushima-Kaigan.
