Opening hours
The temple opens at 8:30 a.m. daily. From April through September, it closes at 5:00 p.m., with last admission at 4:30 p.m. In March and October, it closes at 4:30 p.m., with last admission at 4:00 p.m. In February and November, it closes at 4:00 p.m., with last admission at 3:30 p.m. In January and December, it closes at 3:30 p.m., with last admission at 3:00 p.m.

The main hall's rooms have themed paintings and carvings, along with different ceilings. As you move from room to room, look at both the wall paintings and the decorations overhead.
How to get to Zuiganji · Zuiganji Temple · 瑞巌寺
Take the JR Senseki Line from Sendai Station to Matsushima-Kaigan Station, then walk about 10 minutes to Zuiganji. Matsushima Station on the Tohoku Main Line is a different station; the walk from there takes about 25 minutes.

Matsushima-Kaigan and Matsushima are different stations
Zuiganji is about a 10-minute walk from Matsushima-Kaigan Station and a 25-minute walk from Matsushima Station. When choosing a train from Sendai, check that it stops at Matsushima-Kaigan on the Senseki Line.
