Choose Chiba attractions for your trip
Head to Urayasu for a day at Tokyo Disneyland or Tokyo DisneySea, or Narita for temple approaches and eel meals. Compare Sawara for old streets and surveying exhibits, and Chiba Port Tower for harbour views. For the southern sea and aquarium together, consider a Kamogawa night. Naritasan Shinshoji Temple
成田山新勝寺
Combine Naritasan and Omotesando for temple worship and an eel meal in Narita. Omotesando extends about 800 metres from the station area; steps and slopes continue from the Somon gate to the main hall. Separate activities such as prayer services, sutra copying and souvenirs are excluded from course costs.
- HoursThe main hall, reception and restaurants have different hours. If arriving late in the evening, save indoor worship for the next day.
- Getting thereFrom JR Narita or Keisei Narita Station, follow Omotesando to the Somon gate.

Ino Tadataka Memorial Museum
伊能忠敬記念館
Explore surveying tools and records at Ino Tadataka Memorial Museum to learn how Japan was mapped. Afterwards, walk along the river through Sawara’s old streets. If the streets interest you more than the exhibition, choose just the riverside walk.
- AdmissionAdmission costs 500 yen for adults or 250 yen for elementary and junior-high students.
- HoursOpen 09:00–16:30. The official recommendation is to enter by around 16:00. Closed Mondays, or the next weekday when Monday is a public holiday, and December 29–January 1.
- Getting thereWalk about 15 minutes from JR Sawara Station. Combine the museum with the streets around the Onogawa River. Address: 1722-1 Sawara I, Katori City.
Chiba Port Tower
千葉ポートタワー
Choose the observation deck for views over Chiba’s harbour, or nearby Port Park for an outdoor walk without tower admission. Cloudy weather reduces distant visibility.
- AdmissionAdmission costs 420 yen for adults or 200 yen for elementary and junior-high students; children below elementary-school age enter free.
- HoursJune–September 09:00–21:00; October–May weekdays 09:00–19:00 and weekends/public holidays 09:00–20:00. Last admission is 30 minutes before closing. Normally closed on the fourth Monday of even-numbered months and December 28–31. Dates vary in some years, so check the official annual closure calendar. Strong winds may also close the tower.
- Getting thereWalk about 12 minutes from Chibaminato Station. Official information lists only one morning bus from Chiba Station on weekends/public holidays. At other times, check the walk from Chibaminato.
Tokyo Disneyland
東京ディズニーランド
Spend a day at Disneyland for attractions and parades inspired by Disney stories. Visiting the day after arrival allows more park time once travel is behind you. Break up long attraction queues with shows, street scenery and rests.
- AdmissionOne-day tickets specify the date and park. Prices start at 8,900 yen for adults, 7,400 yen for ages 12–17 and 5,300 yen for ages 4–11. Check the calendar for your actual date.
- Hours and bookingSelect your date in the official operating calendar. Ticket quantities are limited by date; check attraction suspensions and ride restrictions separately.
- Getting thereWalk about five minutes from JR Maihama Station to the entrance. From accommodation in Shin-Urayasu, add the hotel shuttle or train to Maihama.

Tokyo DisneySea

Walk streets lined with harbours and canals and enjoy attractions themed around the sea and adventure. Allow a separate day for DisneySea if you want harbour scenery as well as rides. To visit Disneyland too, prepare a ticket for each park on its respective date.
- AdmissionOne-day tickets specify the park and date. Prices start at 8,900 yen for adults, 7,400 yen for ages 12–17 and 5,300 yen for ages 4–11. Select DisneySea and your date to check the actual price. A Disneyland one-day ticket does not admit you to both parks.
- Hours and bookingCheck dated opening hours and facility suspensions. Separate paid services are excluded from the one-day ticket cost table.
- Getting thereWalk about two minutes from JR Maihama Station to Resort Gateway Station. Ride the Resort Line for about nine minutes to Tokyo DisneySea Station, then walk about one minute to the entrance. Add waits, platform access and entry queues. An adult single costs 300 yen; two rides for this return route total 600 yen, 100 yen less than the 700-yen day pass.

Kamogawa Sea World

Choose Kamogawa Sea World to watch orca jumps and dolphin performances. Pick your priority performance times first, then fit aquarium displays between them. Weather and animal conditions can change performances, so check the programme for your date.
- AdmissionAdmission costs 3,300 yen for high-school students and older, 2,000 yen for elementary and junior-high students, or 1,300 yen for preschool children aged four and older. Ordinary performances are included; extra activities cost extra.
- HoursHours vary by date. Check the official calendar for your visit. Ticket sales end one hour before closing.
- Getting thereTake a Wakashio limited express from Tokyo Station to Awa-Kamogawa, then the free shuttle. The shuttle ride takes about 10 minutes and departures vary by date. Add train and shuttle waits and travel from your accommodation to the station.
Ikspiari
IKSPIARIイクスピアリ
Shop and eat opposite Maihama Station. Stop briefly on arrival day without entering a park, or before a late flight.
- AdmissionShopping, meals, films and other purchases cost separately. This area does not require a Disney park ticket.
- HoursFacility hours are 10:00–22:30; individual shops and restaurants have different hours.
- Getting thereIkspiari is directly outside JR Maihama Station’s south exit.

Narita Tourist Pavilion

Stop at Narita Tourist Pavilion on your Omotesando walk to see festival floats. Admission is free; take the stairs or lift for the upstairs float exhibition. See the visit conditions below for lift restrictions.

- HoursOpen 09:00–17:00. Closed Mondays (check the next official closure day around public holidays and consecutive holidays) and December 29–31.
- Getting thereWalk about 10 minutes along Omotesando from JR Narita or Keisei Narita Station.
- Visit conditionsTemporary notice: air conditioning and the lift are unavailable during equipment work from October 1 to November 30, 2026. Use stairs for the upstairs float exhibition during this period. If stairs are difficult, visit only the ground-floor tourist information area or omit the pavilion. After the work period, recheck the official notice for your date before relying on lift availability.

Naritasan Museum of Calligraphy
成田山書道美術館
Leave time for Naritasan Museum of Calligraphy if you want brushwork exhibitions alongside temple worship. On departure day, allow enough time for the walk both ways from the station, the exhibition and airport travel.
- AdmissionGeneral admission is 500 yen through October 12, 2026, and 800 yen from October 20. The official calendar lists a closure on October 13–19, 2026.
- HoursOpen 09:00–16:00, last admission 15:30. Check the official calendar for Monday closures (the next weekday if a public holiday), exhibition changeovers and year-end closures.
- Getting thereWalk about 25 minutes from JR Narita or Keisei Narita Station. Add accommodation access, the exhibition, waits and airport travel to the 50-minute return walk.
- Visit conditionsThis calligraphy exhibition is separate from temple worship. Choose it on departure day only when you can fit the roughly 50-minute return walk, viewing time and airport journey.

Maebara and Yokosuka Coast
Maebara Yokosuka Beach前原・横渚海岸
For a coastal walk in Kamogawa, head to Maebara–Yokosuka Coast near the station. Walk on arrival day and visit Sea World the next day. Omit the walk during high waves or access restrictions.
- Getting thereWalk about five minutes from JR Awa-Kamogawa Station. Add travel from your accommodation to the station and time spent on the coast.
Frequently asked questions
Can I combine the museum and riverside in Sawara?
Walk about 15 minutes from Sawara Station to Ino Tadataka Memorial Museum, then eat and stroll around the Onogawa River. The museum closes Mondays, or the next weekday if Monday is a public holiday. In heavy rain, shorten the visit, allowing for the walk from the station.
Can I use the lift at Narita Tourist Pavilion?
First check the official restriction notice for your date. When the lift is unavailable, upstairs float exhibits require stairs. If stairs are difficult, use only the ground-floor information area or omit the visit. Compare your date with the work period in the pavilion’s visit conditions.
