Naritasan Shinshoji Temple

成田山新勝寺

Combine Naritasan with Omotesando for a temple visit and eel meal in Narita. Omotesando extends about 800 metres from the station area, with stairs and slopes continuing from Somon to the main hall. Separate activities such as requested prayers and sutra copying, and souvenirs, are excluded from route costs.

  • HoursThe main hall, reception desks and restaurants have different opening hours. For a late evening arrival, plan the indoor temple visit for the following day.
  • Getting thereFrom JR Narita or Keisei Narita Station, follow Omotesando to the Somon gate.

Ino Tadataka Memorial Museum

伊能忠敬記念館

For an insight into how Japan was mapped, explore surveying tools and documents at Ino Tadataka Memorial Museum. Afterwards, walk through Sawara’s old streets by the river. If the streets appeal more than exhibitions, choose the riverside walk alone.

  • AdmissionAdult admission costs JPY 500; primary and junior high school pupils pay JPY 250.
  • HoursOpen 09:00–16:30; the official recommendation is to enter by around 16:00. Closed Mondays, the next weekday when Monday is a public holiday, and 29 December–1 January.

Chiba Port Tower

Choose the observation deck for Chiba harbour views, or nearby Port Park for an outdoor walk without admission. Cloudy weather reduces distant visibility.

  • AdmissionAdult admission costs JPY 420; primary and junior high school pupils pay JPY 200, and preschool children enter free.
  • HoursJune–September: 09:00–21:00. October–May: weekdays 09:00–19:00; Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays 09:00–20:00. Last admission is 30 minutes before closing. Generally closed on the fourth Monday of even-numbered months and 28–31 December. Dates can vary by year; check the official annual closure calendar for your visit. Strong winds can also cause closure.
  • Getting thereAbout 12 minutes on foot from Chibaminato Station. The official guide lists just one morning bus from Chiba Station on weekends and public holidays. At other times, check the walking route from Chibaminato.

Give Disneyland a day for rides based on Disney stories and parades. Visiting on a day after arrival gives you more time in the park. If ride queues grow, include a show or street walk and take a break between them.

Walk harbour and canal streets and enjoy rides themed around the sea and adventure. Give DisneySea a separate day if you want harbour scenery as well as rides. To visit Disneyland as well, prepare a ticket for each park’s own visit date.

  • AdmissionDated, park-specific one-day tickets start at JPY 8,900 for adults, JPY 7,400 for ages 12–17 and JPY 5,300 for ages 4–11. Choose DisneySea and your date to check the actual price. A Disneyland one-day ticket is not a combined ticket for both parks.
  • Hours and reservationsCheck date-specific hours and suspended facilities. Separate paid services are excluded from the one-day ticket cost table.
  • Getting thereWalk about two minutes from JR Maihama to Resort Gateway Station. Ride the Resort Line for about nine minutes to Tokyo DisneySea Station, then walk about one minute to the entrance. Waiting, platform access and entry queues are separate. An adult single costs JPY 300; two rides on this return route cost JPY 600, JPY 100 less than the JPY 700 day ticket.

Kamogawa Sea World

Kamogawa Sea World is an option for orca jumps and dolphin shows. Choose your priority performance times, then explore aquarium displays between them. Weather and animal conditions can change shows; check the visit-date programme.

  • AdmissionAdmission costs JPY 3,300 for visitors of senior high school age and above, JPY 2,000 for primary and junior high school pupils or JPY 1,300 for preschool children aged four and above. Ordinary shows are included; extra activities cost extra.
  • HoursHours vary by date; check the official opening calendar for your visit. Ticket sales end one hour before closing.
  • Getting thereTake limited express Wakashio from Tokyo to Awa-Kamogawa, then change to the free shuttle. The shuttle ride takes about ten minutes, with departure times varying by date. Allow separate time for train and shuttle waits and hotel-to-station travel.

Browse shops and eat at this complex in front of Maihama Station. Stop briefly on arrival day without park entry or before a late departure.

For Narita’s festival floats, stop at the tourist pavilion while walking along Omotesando. Admission is free; reach the upstairs float display by stairs or lift. See the choice conditions below for lift restrictions.

成田山書道美術館

Allow time at Naritasan Museum of Calligraphy if you want brushwork displays alongside a temple visit. It requires a walk from the station. A departure-day visit needs enough time for the return walk, exhibition and airport transfer.

  • AdmissionGeneral admission costs JPY 500 through 12 October 2026 and JPY 800 from 20 October. The official calendar marks 13–19 October 2026 as closed.
  • HoursOpen 09:00–16:00, with last admission at 15:30. Check the official calendar for Monday closures, the next weekday when Monday is a public holiday, exhibition changes and year-end closures.
  • Getting thereAbout 25 minutes on foot from JR Narita or Keisei Narita Station. Beyond the 50-minute return walk, allow separate time for hotel access, exhibitions, queues and airport travel.
  • Conditions to considerThe calligraphy exhibition is separate from temple worship. On departure day, choose it only when you can fit the roughly 50-minute station return walk, exhibition and airport transfer together.

Maebara Yokosuka Beach前原・横渚海岸

For a seaside walk in Kamogawa, head to the Maebara and Yokosuka coast near the station. Walk the coast on arrival day and visit Sea World the next day. Omit the walk during high waves or access restrictions.

  • Getting thereAbout five minutes on foot from JR Awa-Kamogawa Station. Hotel-to-station travel and time spent on the coast are separate.

Frequently asked questions

Can you combine the memorial museum with Sawara’s riverside?

Walk about 15 minutes from Sawara Station to Ino Tadataka Memorial Museum, then eat near Onogawa and walk by the river. Closed Mondays, or the next weekday when Monday is a public holiday. In heavy rain, consider the station walk too and shorten your visit.
