Which city should be your base for a Chiba trip?
Compare hotels in Maihama and Shin-Urayasu if you want a full day each at Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. Choose the Narita station area for temple visits and Sawara’s old streets. For harbour views in Chiba City, consider Port Tower; for two days of orca shows and coastal scenery, compare a route with one night in Kamogawa.
Both parks are in Urayasu City, Chiba Prefecture. Even when flying through Narita Airport, choosing between the parks, Narita town, central Chiba and Kamogawa first helps you decide where to stay.
Parks, temple approach, old streets or southern coast?
Choose a day at Disneyland or DisneySea, or walks through Naritasan and Sawara’s streets. Compare Port Tower for harbour views and Kamogawa for coast and aquarium together. These are different areas; check attraction fees, opening dates and access before giving them separate sightseeing days.
Day-by-day itineraries
For a short trip, compare Narita worship or a single park. Longer trips can cover both parks or northern history and southern coast. Open a route to see airport arrival access and the return sequence after sightseeing.
1 night, 2 days
Compare Narita A for Omotesando meals and worship, or Disneyland B when arrival-day park time is available.
2 nights, 3 days
Give the full second day to Sawara displays in A or DisneySea in B. Choose departure-day sightseeing according to airport transfer time.
3 nights, 4 days
In A, visit the harbour, temple and calligraphy displays separately; in B, move to Narita after Disneyland.
4 nights, 5 days
In A, give Disneyland and DisneySea a day each; in B, visit Sawara and spend one night in Kamogawa. Compare final-night hotels and return journeys before choosing.
Which station area should you stay near?
Maihama and Shin-Urayasu
Compare hotels using Maihama Station as your starting point for a full day at a Disney park. Staying in Shin-Urayasu means extra travel to the park entrance.
Check the route from your booked hotel to the park. For a shuttle, check operating dates, boarding location and the last departure. Choose late sightseeing only when you can get back within those hours.

JR Narita and Keisei Narita stations
Consider this area for a temple visit along Omotesando and a Sawara trip, or a stay before departure from Narita Airport.
Distinguish station-area hotels from airport hotels. Whether an airport hotel shuttle serves Narita Station depends on the hotel.

Chiba Station and Chibaminato
Choose this area for meals in central Chiba and a Port Tower visit.
Port Tower is near Chibaminato Station. Do not choose your hotel assuming you will walk there from Chiba Station every time.
Around Awa-Kamogawa Station
Choose this area for Sea World and another day in southern Chiba.
It suits an itinerary that changes hotels rather than a base for daily return trips to the Disney parks and Narita Airport.
Plan Tokyo return journeys and transport passes first
Use Maihama as your starting point for parks from Tokyo
From Tokyo Station, take a JR Keiyo or Musashino Line service stopping at Maihama. Return on a service towards Tokyo. The walk between other JR lines and Keiyo Line platforms at Tokyo Station is separate from train time. If your hotel is elsewhere, add travel from the hotel to Tokyo Station.
Disneyland’s entrance is about five minutes on foot from Maihama. For DisneySea, walk about two minutes to Resort Gateway Station, ride the Resort Line for about nine minutes, then walk about one minute from Tokyo DisneySea Station to the entrance. Platform access, waiting and entry queues are separate. Check return trains and the last hotel shuttle before staying until closing. For consecutive park visits, compare Maihama and Shin-Urayasu hotels too.

Kamogawa day trips and overnight stays have different return conditions
From Tokyo to Kamogawa Sea World, combine a limited express Wakashio stopping at Awa-Kamogawa with the station’s free shuttle. Reach the west exit shuttle stop via the connecting walkway’s stairs. The roughly ten-minute shuttle ride excludes train and bus waits and Tokyo hotel access. Choose a day trip after matching visit-date sightseeing and show times with the return shuttle and limited express.
The five-day B route spends one night in Kamogawa and visits Sea World the following day, splitting arrival-day coastal walking from aquarium viewing. Match sightseeing and the return shuttle with the Tokyo-bound limited express and JR connection to Narita. This route moves to a new Narita hotel rather than returning to a Tokyo hotel on a day trip.
Wakashio cannot be used with an unreserved-seat limited express ticket. Reserve a seat when departure time is set, as in this route. With a seat-unspecified ticket, you may sit in an empty seat but must move if its reservation holder arrives. This differs from having your own reserved seat.

Calculate JR pass, Resort Line and Keisei coverage separately
JR TOKYO Wide Pass costs JPY 16,000 for an adult and is valid for three consecutive days from your chosen start date. Published coverage includes JR East and Tokyo Monorail, excluding Keisei, Disney Resort Line and Chiba Urban Monorail. You need an original passport issued outside Japan. You can use the pass without Temporary Visitor status. Park admission and JR tickets are separate.
The two-day A route’s Keisei airport return subtotal for Narita town alone differs from travel using the Kamogawa limited express or several JR sections. On four- or five-day trips, the pass still covers only three consecutive days. Add individual fares for your actual days and sections before comparing. A subway sightseeing pass alone does not reach JR Maihama or Kamogawa. Hotel shuttles are not automatically covered by a railway pass.

Transport, costs, meals and related guides
Plan arrival and departure days around your airports
Choose first-day sightseeing after allowing time for immigration, baggage collection and hotel access. On a late arrival, eat and rest. For departure, work backwards from the airline’s recommended airport arrival time, allowing time for trains, transfers and terminal access. If leaving luggage at a hotel, also check storage and collection availability and allow time for the hotel journey. For an early flight, leave without final-day sightseeing.
Plan arrival and departure days around your airports →Separate admission from Resort Line costs
For one adult, three days B starts at JPY 9,920, adding DisneySea’s lowest one-day ticket JPY 8,900, Port Tower JPY 420 and two Resort Line tickets JPY 600. Five days A starts at JPY 18,400, adding both parks’ lowest one-day tickets totalling JPY 17,800 and the DisneySea day’s Resort Line JPY 600. Actual booked-date ticket prices can differ. Other routes exclude Resort Line costs; JR, airport travel, hotel shuttles, extra rides, meals, hotels and separate paid activities are also excluded. These prices were checked on 8 October 2026.
Separate admission from Resort Line costs →Calligraphy museum admission depends on your visit date
Four days A adds Port Tower JPY 420, Ino Tadataka Memorial Museum JPY 500 and calligraphy museum admission. The total is JPY 1,420 through 12 October 2026, when the latter costs JPY 500, and JPY 1,720 from 20 October, when it costs JPY 800. The official calendar marks 13–19 October 2026 as closed; omit the museum on closure days. JR, monorail, airport and hotel travel, meals and hotels are outside this total.
Calligraphy museum admission depends on your visit date →Compare JR pass coverage
A Tokyo subway sightseeing pass alone does not reach the parks or southern Chiba. JR, Keisei, the Resort Line and limited express services have different coverage. Compare sections in the Japan transport and JR pass guides. For a single airport return journey, add individual fares first and compare them with a wider-area pass price.
Compare JR pass coverage →Choose a meal on Narita’s Omotesando
Omotesando has eel restaurants. Leave time before or after the temple for grilled eel with rice. Individual restaurant hours, prices and queues differ from temple hours. The Omotesando guide was checked on 8 October 2026.
Choose a meal on Narita’s Omotesando →Camera in front of Naritasan’s Great Main Hall
The Naritasan Great Main Hall camera shows the space in front of the hall. It does not establish restaurant queues along all of Omotesando or train operation at Narita Station. Check whether the temple’s official camera is broadcasting. The temple camera guide was checked on 8 October 2026.
Camera in front of Naritasan’s Great Main Hall →Chiba areas to explore a day at a time
Chiba Prefecture · 千葉県
Choose a park day, temple approach and old streets, or a night by the southern sea first. These areas use different stations and travel directions. Rather than combining all of them in a day, compare attractions and routes for the areas that interest you.
Maihama · 舞浜: a day for each park
Disneyland and DisneySea share a resort but have different entrances and access. Walk about five minutes from Maihama Station to Disneyland; use the Resort Line for DisneySea. Five days A gives each park a day. Choose two days B’s arrival-day park visit only when sightseeing time remains after travel.

A day without park entry in Maihama: Ikspiari
On arrival day without a park visit, eat or shop at Ikspiari near Maihama Station. No Disneyland or DisneySea admission is needed for this visit. Shops, restaurants and cinemas have different hours and charges; for a late arrival, check the businesses you actually want to use first.
Narita · 成田: temple approach and exhibitions
Walk along Omotesando from Narita Station to Naritasan, combining the journey with a meal. Leave time before or after worship for an eel restaurant. The calligraphy museum lies further inside the park, adding walking beyond a temple-only visit. To visit exhibitions as well, check opening dates and split visits across days, as in four days A.

Sawara · 佐原: memorial museum and riverside walks
Take JR from Narita to Sawara, then explore Ino Tadataka Memorial Museum and the Onogawa area. The museum is about 15 minutes on foot from Sawara Station. Allow time after the exhibition for a riverside walk and meal, then return to Sawara Station for Narita. Compare three days A’s day trip with consecutive Narita nights and five days B’s onward overnight stay in the south.
Chibaminato · 千葉みなと: harbour views
For Port Tower, travel towards Chibaminato rather than Chiba Station. From Chiba, take the urban monorail to Chibaminato, then walk about 12 minutes to the tower. Return towards the same station after visiting. Choose three days B’s departure-day visit only with enough airport transfer time. For longer harbour time, see day one of four days A.
DirectionsChiba Urban Monorail routes and directional timetables
Kamogawa · 鴨川: two days for coast and aquarium
Compare an overnight Kamogawa route for rest by the southern sea and orca shows. Walk the coast on arrival day, then visit the aquarium the next day. Maebara and Yokosuka coast is about five minutes on foot from Awa-Kamogawa Station; Sea World is about ten minutes by free shuttle from the west exit. Allow separate access time for the coastal walk and aquarium shuttle.

Frequently asked questions
Can you stay in Tokyo for a Disney trip?
Yes, if you can travel to and from Maihama from your hotel. Tokyo Disney Resort is in Urayasu City, Chiba Prefecture; allow time for travel and changes after closing. For consecutive visits to both parks, compare Maihama and Shin-Urayasu bases as well.
Do you use Skyliner from Narita Airport to Naritasan?
For Naritasan, choose a train stopping at Keisei Narita or JR Narita. Skyliner runs towards Nippori and Ueno and cannot simply be used for a Narita town hotel or temple transfer. Choose your terminal and arrival station, then check visit-date fares and timetables.
