Opening hours and closed days
The main hall opens from 06:00 to 17:00 between April and September, and from 06:30 to 17:00 between October and March. Other buildings and Nakamise shops have their own hours.
What can I see at Senso-ji?
Kaminarimon to the main hall via Nakamise
Start at Kaminarimon and browse Nakamise’s shops as you walk towards the main hall. This adds a shopping-street walk to your temple visit.
How to get to Senso-ji
Take the Ginza or Toei Asakusa Line to Asakusa and walk to Senso-ji. Tsukuba Express Asakusa is elsewhere; choose directions for the line you use.
Before you visit
Shops may be closed early in the morning
Main-hall worship hours differ from Nakamise shop hours. To shop after morning worship, check when your chosen shops open.
Tsukuba Express Asakusa Station is in a different location
Asakusa Station on the Ginza and Toei Asakusa lines is separate from Tsukuba Express Asakusa. Check the railway line as well as the station name when finding your route.
Questions about Senso-ji
Can you worship at Senso-ji early in the morning?
The main hall opens at 06:00 from April to September or 06:30 from October to March, closing at 17:00. Nakamise shops keep separate hours, so early-morning shopping may not be possible.
