Admission
Adult collection admission is JPY 350, applicable from 1 July 2026. Groups of at least 20 pay JPY 280 per person. Special exhibition fees vary by exhibition. Primary, junior high and senior high school students and other specified groups have free collection and special exhibition admission. Visitors aged 70 and above, and students up to university level, have free collection admission.
Opening hours and closed days
The museum opens 09:30–18:00, with last admission at 17:30. Closed Wednesdays, except public holiday Wednesdays when it opens and closes the next weekday instead. Also closed at New Year. Rooftop hours are 08:00–22:00, with last admission at 21:30; closed 1 December–15 March. Check the calendar and notices for temporary inspection, exhibition-change and weather closures.

After visiting exhibits, head to the rooftop. Gallery and rooftop hours differ, so check separately whether the roof remains open after your gallery visit.
How to get to Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art and Design
Walk about 15 minutes from Toyama Station’s north exit to the museum. For a bus, use north-side stand 1 for a service via Toyama Red Cross Hospital and the prefectural art museum, alighting at the museum stop for nearby access. Check fares, travel-date services and an entrance without stairs in the official access guide.

Collection and special exhibitions have different fees. Choose what you want to see, then check your date’s opening calendar.
Allow separate time for a park walk
You can reach the museum via Kansui Park. The roughly 15-minute station-to-museum walk excludes walking and resting in the park, so allow extra time.
