Haneda Airport → your Tokyo hotel

Haneda Airport to Tokyo: trains, buses and late arrivals

Take Keikyu for a hotel near Shinagawa, or the Tokyo Monorail for Hamamatsucho. For Shibuya and Shinjuku, compare a JR transfer at Shinagawa with a bus that stops near your hotel. If you arrive late, allow for immigration and baggage claim before deciding which departure you can catch.

Start with your actual arrival terminal

Haneda international flights use both Terminals 2 and 3. The airline name alone is not enough: match the flight number and date on your booking to the airport’s arrival information.

International arrivals in Terminal 3

  1. Complete immigration and collect your bags on the second floor.
  2. For Keikyu toward Shinagawa, use the second-floor gates signed for the city and Yokohama, then go downstairs to the platform. Do not confuse these with the gates for the other direction on B2.
  3. For the monorail, use its separate second-floor arrival-level gates. It also has gates on the third-floor departures level.
  4. For buses, check or buy your ticket on the second floor, then follow signs down to the first-floor bus stops in the third roadway.
Official rail gates and terminal access ↗

International arrivals in Terminal 2

  1. Collect your bags in the second-floor international arrivals area, not the domestic departures area on the same floor.
  2. Follow “Railways / 鉄道” to B1.
  3. Keikyu uses Haneda Airport Terminal 1・2 Station · 羽田空港第1・第2ターミナル駅. The monorail uses Haneda Airport Terminal 2 Station · 羽田空港第2ターミナル駅. They have separate gates.
  4. Buses leave from the first floor, not the underground railway level.
Terminal 2 arrivals and floor map ↗

For a domestic arrival in Terminal 1, start at the first-floor arrivals hall: trains are on B1 and buses outside on the first floor. Keikyu shares one station between Terminals 1 and 2; the monorail has a separate Terminal 1 station.

Follow elevator signs if you have large bags. The free terminal shuttle does not run all night. Free rail-transfer tickets have flight-connection eligibility rules; they are not free tickets into Tokyo for every arriving passenger. Terminal transfers and shuttle hours ↗

Hotels in Ginza, Shinagawa or Hamamatsucho

Depends on the rail route or bus

Regular tickets and IC fares are slightly different. If you transfer from Keikyu to JR, you pay separate fares for each company. Monorail + JR regular tickets are 720 yen for Tokyo Station, 680 yen for Yurakucho and Shimbashi, and 780 yen for Shibuya and Shinjuku, as shown in the official discount ticket comparison table. The total may vary if you use a transport IC card or take a different route.

When can I use the 590-yen monorail–Yamanote ticket?

Buy this one-way ticket at an airport station on the day of use, on designated Saturdays, Sundays, holidays or special sales dates. It covers the monorail to Hamamatsucho and an eligible JR Yamanote destination, without leaving the gates in between. It is not restricted to foreign visitors.

The published sales period is March 14, 2026–March 31, 2027, with October 1–7, 2026 included as special sales dates. You cannot buy it in advance for another day. For a hotel in Shinagawa, compare the direct Keikyu route rather than choosing a longer trip just for the discount. Eligible dates, stations and purchase rules ↗

From your arrival station to your hotel

Shinagawa · 品川

Arrival terminal → Keikyu → Shinagawa Station → hotel or JR transfer. Check displays for Shinagawa and the Toei Asakusa Line direction. Yokohama-bound trains go the other way; some services require a change at Keikyu Kamata Station · 京急蒲田駅.

Keikyu and JR Shinagawa are connected but have separate gates. For a hotel in Shinagawa, use the exit for its address; Takanawa and Konan are on opposite sides. For Shibuya, Shinjuku or Tokyo Station, follow JR transfer signs.

Hamamatsucho · 浜松町

Arrival terminal → monorail → Monorail Hamamatsucho Station → hotel or JR. For the Yamanote or Keihin-Tohoku Line, follow the JR transfer signs and allow time to reach the next platform.

Nearby Daimon Station · 大門駅 is a subway station with different gates from JR Hamamatsucho. For hotels near Shiba or Zojoji, use the actual hotel address to plan the walk.

Hamamatsucho → Zojoji Temple · 増上寺 walking directions ↗

Tokyo Station · 東京駅 and Ginza · 銀座

Take the monorail to Hamamatsucho and JR toward Tokyo/Ueno, or take Keikyu to Shinagawa and transfer to JR toward Tokyo. For a hotel on the Yaesu side, compare the bus to Tekko Building · 鉃鋼ビル near the Yaesu North Exit. It does not drop you on the Marunouchi side.

For western Ginza, monorail → JR Yurakucho Station → walk is one option. Standard paper tickets total 680 yen: 520 yen for the monorail and 160 yen for JR. For southern Ginza, compare Shimbashi Station · 新橋駅. An additional subway ride to Ginza Station costs extra.

The checked airport list marks the Hibiya, Shiodome and Ginza buses as suspended; do not plan on them running.

Yaesu North Exit ↔ Tekko Building walking directions ↗

Yurakucho Station · 有楽町駅 → Ginza Mitsukoshi · 銀座三越 walking directions ↗

Shibuya · 渋谷

Take Keikyu to Shinagawa, then the JR Yamanote Line toward Shibuya/Shinjuku. Do not board the opposite-direction train toward Tokyo/Ueno. Allow time to change gates and platforms and wait for JR.

For a bus, choose Shibuya Station, Cerulean Tower or Mark City when booking. The regular Terminal 3 stop is number 4 on the first floor. The first bus leaves Terminal 3 at 05:45 and Terminal 2 at 05:55, skips Terminal 1, and does not serve Shibuya Station.

Shibuya Mark City · 渋谷マークシティ is a different arrival point from JR Shibuya. If your bus stops at a hotel or Mark City, check the walk from that stop rather than from the station.

Hachiko Exit → Shibuya Scramble Crossing · 渋谷スクランブル交差点 walking directions ↗

Shinjuku · 新宿

Keikyu → Shinagawa → JR Yamanote Line toward Shibuya/Shinjuku → Shinjuku Station → hotel. Keikyu does not run directly to Shinjuku. The monorail alternative requires a JR transfer at Hamamatsucho.

Bus stops at Shinjuku Station, Busta Shinjuku and individual hotels are different. The first regular bus leaves Terminal 3 at 06:15 and Terminal 2 at 06:25, with no Terminal 1 stop. The last regular departures are 23:40, 23:50 and 23:55 from Terminals 3, 2 and 1. Regular boarding stops are Terminal 3 stop 3, Terminal 2 stop 5 and Terminal 1 stop 4, all on the first floor.

Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal · バスタ新宿, commonly called Busta Shinjuku, is on the station’s south side. Hotels west of the station or in Kabukicho to the east require a separate walk.

The JR New South Gate · 新南改札 connects directly to Busta: the official walk is about two minutes from that gate or four minutes from the South Exit. New South Gate opens 05:45–24:00; use the South Exit outside those hours. Ticket purchase and boarding require additional time.

Late arrivals: check the whole connection, not just the airport train

Allow for immigration and baggage claim before estimating when you can reach the airport station. The times below are airport-origin departures, checked against weekday and weekend/holiday timetables. They do not guarantee an onward JR connection to every district.

Terminal 1 and 2 Station · Keikyu → Shinagawa

Weekdays: first 05:23 / last 00:05
Weekends and holidays: first 05:23 / last 00:05

Official terminal timetable ↗

The first Terminal 3 Keikyu train leaves at 05:26 and reaches Shinagawa at 05:46. The last Shinagawa-bound train leaves at 00:08 and arrives at 00:20. The weekday 00:13 departure terminates at Keikyu Kamata; it is not a later train to Shinagawa.

Search all the way to your hotel using the travel date and arrival terminal, then compare the Shinagawa or Hamamatsucho JR timetable. An airport train can still run after your onward connection has ended. JR station timetables ↗ · Official airport rail route search ↗

Shibuya and Shinjuku: do not plan a zero-minute Shinagawa connection

The October 2026 weekday and weekend/holiday Yamanote timetables show the last outer-loop departure from Shinagawa that continues to Shibuya and Shinjuku at 00:20. Later departures end at Osaki. The last Terminal 3 Keikyu also reaches Shinagawa at 00:20, so these are not a usable connection. Take an earlier Keikyu train and allow for the gates and platforms.

For the inner-loop Yamanote direction toward Tokyo and Yurakucho, Hamamatsucho has a 00:32 departure in both timetables. That is a JR transfer-station departure, not an airport departure. Check the complete trip, including other available JR lines and your final hotel.

Shinjuku has late-night buses; do not assume Shibuya does

The October 4, 2026 check showed Shinjuku late-night buses for 2,800 yen, leaving Terminal 3 at 00:20, 01:00, 01:40 and 02:20. The 00:20 service also leaves Terminal 2 at 00:05 and Terminal 1 at 00:10. The three later services depart Terminal 3 only, from stop 3. Check the ticketing screen and day-of signs for the 00:20 service’s stop.

Shibuya’s last regular bus departs Terminal 3 at 22:35, Terminal 2 at 22:45 and Terminal 1 at 22:50. Keikyu Bus marks its Shibuya late-night route as suspended. A Shinjuku late-night bus is not a ride to Shibuya. For departures after midnight, select the next calendar date.

If trains and buses have ended

Terminal 3’s regular taxi stand is stop 21 in the second roadway on the first floor; follow signs down from second-floor arrivals. Terminals 1 and 2 have regular taxi stands on the first floor. App pickups and reserved taxis use different meeting points: near Terminal 1 second-floor exit 7, near Terminal 2 second-floor exit 2, or the Terminal 3 reserved-taxi area on P5 parking level 8. Follow the operator’s actual instructions.

Flat-rate taxis to Shinjuku, Shibuya or Chiyoda wards

The fare table effective April 20, 2026 lists Shinjuku Ward at 9,000 yen / late night 10,700 yen, Shibuya Ward at 8,500 / 10,000 yen, and Chiyoda Ward at 7,600 / 9,000 yen. These are per vehicle; highway tolls and parking are extra.

Confirm that the company participates and your address qualifies. The official airport stand can be used without advance booking; flat-rate reservations from other locations have a minimum one-hour advance-booking condition. The entire ride must fall within 22:00–05:00 for the late-night flat fare. A destination change or major detour can trigger metered pricing.

Other districts or a hotel near the airport

Do not apply those three ward fares to Shinagawa, Hamamatsucho or Ginza. Ginza is in Chuo Ward, with different conditions. Show your actual hotel address and confirm the applicable metered or flat-rate fare.

An airport-connected or nearby hotel is another option. Check rooms, late check-in, how to reach the hotel and when terminal shuttles stop before reserving. Availability and prices are not guaranteed. Let the hotel know your expected arrival time.

Make the trip easier with large bags

A bus that actually stops near your hotel can reduce transfers with luggage. For rail, plan elevator access and save the transfer station, exit and hotel address on your phone. At a booked pickup, match the vehicle plate and reservation.

Keep power banks, your passport, phone and valuables with you rather than in the bus’s luggage compartment. Check the operator’s bag-size and quantity limits and collect your bags before leaving the stop.

Official tickets and reservations

Select Haneda Airport as your departure point, the actual terminal, destination stop and boarding date. Midnight departures use the next calendar date. A daytime limousine voucher does not automatically cover a late-night bus. Ordinary Keikyu and monorail tickets are separate from bus reservations.

These are official operator links, not affiliate links. Fares in this guide and online offers may have different conditions. Confirm direction, date, exchange, reservation and refund rules before paying.

Haneda to Tokyo FAQs

Do international flights arrive at Haneda Terminal 2 or Terminal 3?

Both terminals handle international arrivals. Check your flight number and date against your airline booking and the airport’s arrival information. Both international arrivals halls are on the second floor. Terminal 2’s rail stations are on B1; Terminal 3’s city-bound Keikyu gates and arrival-level monorail gates are on the second floor.

Should I take Keikyu or the Tokyo Monorail to my hotel?

Keikyu serves Shinagawa; the monorail serves Hamamatsucho. Both allow an onward JR connection to Tokyo Station. For Shibuya or Shinjuku, compare Keikyu plus the JR Yamanote Line at Shinagawa. A bus can be easier with bags if its actual drop-off stop is near your hotel.

Can I get to Shinjuku or Shibuya after a late-night arrival?

Allow for immigration and baggage claim, then check both the airport departure and any onward JR train. The October 4, 2026 check showed Shinjuku buses from Terminal 3 at 00:20, 01:00, 01:40 and 02:20, costing 2,800 yen one way for adults. The Shibuya late-night route was marked suspended. Check dates and seats; compare an official taxi or airport hotel if no suitable service remains.

What if a flight delay makes me miss my reserved bus?

Check your booking’s change and cancellation deadline before departure. Changing a bus reservation and refunding a purchased voucher are different processes, and a daytime voucher may exclude late-night travel. This page links to official operator information, not a verified affiliate offer. Contact the seller and operator; do not assume an automatic refund or a seat on the next bus.

Are Haneda and Narita the same airport?

No. Haneda is HND and Narita is NRT, with different terminals, rail stations and bus stops. A Narita-only ticket is not automatically valid from Haneda. Check the airport, direction and destination before purchasing.

Who can buy the 590-yen monorail–Yamanote ticket?

It is not restricted to foreign visitors. Buy the one-way ticket at an airport station on the day of use, on designated weekends, holidays or special sales dates, and travel via Hamamatsucho to an eligible JR Yamanote station without leaving the gates. Advance purchase for another date is not allowed. October 1–7, 2026 is included in the special sales period; check the official conditions for your travel date.
