How to get to Lake Towada Yasumiya

The prefectural tourism agency lists about a 15-minute walk from the bus stop to the Maidens statue. The Ministry of the Environment lists about five minutes from central Yasumiya to the shrine. These use different starting points, so do not add them to call the whole walk 20 minutes. If you also take a sightseeing boat or visit Oirase Gorge, check operating times and return transportation separately.

Take a JR bus toward Lake Towada from Aomori Station, checking both journeys for your date before departure. In winter, the Aomori route ends at Sukayu without reaching Yasumiya. Towada Hotel on the western shore is about 15 minutes from Yasumiya by reserved shuttle. Book by about 10:00 p.m. the previous night; it does not run without a reservation. Ask other hotels about their own shuttle arrangements.

During a multi-night stay, ask the hotel whether you can use it in both directions for a lakeside walk.
