For an indoor outing on a rainy day, consider Fukuoka City Science Museum in Ropponmatsu. The permanent exhibition is on the 5th floor; the Dome Theater on the 6th floor presents planetarium programs.

Admission
Entry to the building is free. Individual admission to the 5th-floor permanent exhibition is JPY 510 for adults, JPY 310 for high school students, and JPY 200 for elementary and junior high school students. Planetarium programs and special exhibitions cost extra. Preschool children accompanied by a guardian can enter the permanent exhibition and regular Dome Theater programs free.
Opening hours
The building is open 09:30–21:30. The 5th-floor permanent exhibition is open 09:30–18:00, with last entry at 17:30.

Visit the permanent exhibition on the 5th floor. For a planetarium visit, choose a program at the 6th-floor Dome Theater. The permanent exhibition and planetarium require separate tickets.
How to get to Fukuoka City Science Museum
Take the Nanakuma subway line to Ropponmatsu Station and walk to the museum. Ask about exhibition tickets at the information and ticket counter on the 3rd floor.
Visit tips
Evening visitors: watch the exhibition’s closing time
Arrive before 17:30 for last entry to the permanent exhibition. The building stays open until 21:30, but the exhibition closes at 18:00.
Tuesday and year-end closures
The museum is closed on Tuesdays and December 28–January 1. When Tuesday is a public holiday, it opens that day and closes on the next weekday. During spring break, Golden Week, summer break, and winter break, it opens daily except for the year-end closure. Check the official calendar for your visit date.

Does a permanent-exhibition ticket include the planetarium?
No. You need a separate planetarium ticket, and special exhibitions also have separate fees. Ask about tickets for your chosen exhibits and programs at the 3rd-floor information and ticket counter.
