Alaska Airlines: delayed or canceled U.S.–Japan flights
Review the replacement flight in your Alaska booking before canceling. An airline cancellation can qualify for an original-payment refund, but an earlier voluntary cancellation for a travel credit is a different case.
Start with the airline’s official flight information
Alaska and Hawaiian branding and flight numbers are changing during integration. Check the operating airline on your booking instead of assigning the flight from a historical HA number.
This page does not submit a refund claim, retrieve a certificate or confirm live flight status. Ask the airline for the documents and case number required for your situation.
Review Alaska’s replacement before canceling
- Alaska’s advisory says it moves passengers from a canceled flight to the next available flight. If that replacement works for you, review the new itinerary. Otherwise, the cancellation options include changing online to a flight up to seven days earlier or later, or canceling online for a refund to the original payment method.
- To qualify for that refund, Alaska says you must still have an active reservation on the affected flight. Voluntarily canceling for a future credit before the airline cancels the flight is not the same situation. Do not cancel for a credit just to clear the booking while you are deciding.
- Alaska and Hawaiian names can both appear during integration. Match the operating airline on your booking when asking about airport handling, bags and proof of disruption; a historical flight number alone does not settle who handles the flight.

Show staff your booking and ask for the replacement flight’s arrival date before accepting it. Confirm whether to collect or transfer checked baggage. For an overnight disruption, ask which hotel, meals and transport are approved before spending money.
If a bag is missing or damaged, report it before leaving the airport, keep the bag tag and obtain a reference number. Ask for the written-claim deadline; this directory has not verified a carrier-specific deadline.
For an insurance claim, request the document your insurer asks for. A screenshot alone is not an airline certificate or a guarantee of reimbursement.

Which Alaska Airlines flight number should I check?
Use the operating flight number and local departure date shown on your booking. A codeshare ticket can display another airline’s marketing number. The route records below are not a live status feed.
Are check-in counters and deadlines confirmed here?
No. Terminal, assigned counter, counter opening time, check-in deadline and boarding deadline need confirmation from the operating airline and airport for your travel date. A delayed departure does not automatically extend check-in.
