New Chitose Airport to Sapporo, Odori and Susukino

If you are staying near Sapporo Station, you can use JR. To get to Odori and Susukino hotels, transfer to the subway at Sapporo Station or take the airport bus that stops close to the accommodation. If you have a lot of luggage, it is a good idea to check the number of transfers and walking distance to your accommodation after getting off the train or bus.

JR → Sapporo Station

Approximately 33 to 44 minutes · Non-reserved seat 1,230 yen

This is the train on-board journey time from New Chitose Airport Station to Sapporo Station. It's easy to get to the hotels around the station, and when going to Odori and Susukino, you need to transfer to the subway or walk.

If you add 1,000 yen for a u-seat reserved seat ticket, the total is 2,230 yen. An Ekinet ticketless reserved seat ticket costs 800 yen, and the total, including the basic fare, is 2,030 yen.

Airport bus → city centre stop

The general route to the city centre is approximately 68 minutes from Susukino South 3, approximately 72 minutes from Odori Park, and approximately 77 minutes from Sapporo Station, based on domestic flights departing from the ANA platform. International flights depart later, so please calculate based on the timetable at the relevant bus stop.

Depending on the order of hotel stops, some routes take approximately 95 minutes to reach the final destination. Road congestion, snow, and detour times may increase.

JR + Namboku Line → Odori and Susukino

JR 1,230 yen + subway 210 yen. From JR Sapporo Station, walk to Subway Sapporo Station and board separately. The subway ride takes about 2 minutes to Odori and 3 minutes to Susukino, not including transfer walking, waiting, and exit movement.

Direct bus → Susukino/Nakajima Park

1,500 yen · There are few services

International departure is at 14:16 and 16:16. Go in the following order: Sapporo Station Front → Odori Park → Susukino South 4th West 1 → Nakajima Park. The stop location is different from the regular city centre route.

Based on domestic ANA departures, it is approximately 65, 73, 77, and 80 minutes. Don't think of it as a bus that comes every hour.

It takes longer from landing to arrival at the accommodation.

The numbers above are the time after getting into the vehicle. Immigration → Baggage claim → Arrival lobby → Move to station/boarding area → Ticketing → Waiting → Get off in the city → Accommodation must be added separately. The time it takes to clear immigration and collect your baggage will vary depending on your flight and airport congestion.

Adding an additional 10 to 15 minutes of walking to JR Station after exiting the arrival lobby, the walk and train ride to Sapporo Station is approximately 43 to 59 minutes. Add ticketing, waiting, and walking time to your accommodation here.

At Odori and Susukino hotels, JR → subway transfer, subway 2-3 minutes, exit → accommodation are added during this time. For buses, compare the time taken by going down to the first floor of the international terminal, waiting, departing from the relevant international flight → arriving at the stop, and walking after getting off.

If there is a nearby stop, you can reduce transfers, but it is not always faster than JR.

From the international arrival hall to JR New Chitose Airport Station

JR New Chitose Airport Station · 新千歳空港駅 is located on the first basement level of the domestic terminal. The international arrival lobby is on the second floor, so instead of going down to the first floor where the bus stop is located, look for the passage connecting to the domestic flight.

  1. After completing immigration and baggage claim at the international terminal 2nd floor arrival lobby, follow the signs for ‘国内線 / Domestic’ and ‘JR’.
  2. 2nd floor connecting passage → Cross the 2nd floor indoor connecting passageway of the domestic terminal and move toward the centre of the domestic terminal. On the floor map, international flights are shown to the west and domestic flights are shown to the east.
  3. From domestic flights, go down to the JR station on the 1st basement floor, follow the JR signs and elevator/escalator directions, and prepare your ticket. On the airport's official page, there are two videos showing the route from Centre Plaza on the second floor of the domestic terminal to the station.
  4. Train → Sapporo Station → Check whether it stops in Sapporo and the departure time at your accommodation or on the subway departure electronic board. Allow roughly 10–15 minutes to walk from the international arrivals lobby to the station with luggage. This is an editorial estimate, not an officially measured or guaranteed time, and elevator waiting and ticketing times are separate.

Construction confirmation: The 3rd floor connecting passage is scheduled to be closed from September 2, 2026 to the end of June 2027. This guide uses the 2nd floor route. ‘Airport’ trains also have different types and stops.

Currently, special rapid airport, rapid airport, and section rapid airport are in operation. The special rapid train stops at Airport → Minami-Chitose · 南千歳 → Shin-Sapporo · 新札幌 → Sapporo. Rapid trains also stop at Chitose · 千歳, Eniwa · 恵庭 and Kitahiroshima · 北広島, and some trains stop at Shiroishi · 白石. The section rapid service stops at each station between the airport and Kitahiroshima and goes to Shin-Sapporo and Sapporo. From 09:00 to 16:00, there are normally six trains per hour as standard, and the train that leaves first arrives in Sapporo first. There is no seat reservation for non-reserved seats, so you can stand if it is crowded. To use the u-seat in Car 4, you need a reserved seat ticket that matches the train and seat you reserved. New Chitose Airport bus stop: International 84, domestic 14 and 22

Arrival lobby on the 2nd floor of the international flight → Go down to the 1st floor → Platform 84 → City centre stop of the route → Accommodation. For direct services to and from Sapporo city centre, board number 14 on the ANA side of the 1st floor of domestic flights, number 22 on the JAL side, and number 84 on the 1st floor of international flights.

Do not confuse it with other bus stops and check the destination on the electronic display board.

The drop-off location is different for general city-bound and direct services.

General routes to the city centre go through Fukuzumi and Toyohira to Minami 3-jo Susukino · 南3条すすきの, Odori Park, and in front of Sapporo Station. A separate non-stop bus passes through Sapporo Station first and gets off at Susukino (Minami 4 Nishi 1) · すすきの（南４西１）.

South 4 West 3 stops in the opposite direction from city centre to the airport should not be used as the destination.

How do I make a reservation, payment, and prepare large luggage?

These regular buses to the city are on a first-come, first-served basis without prior seat reservations, and if they are full, you will have to wait for the next bus. Buying a ticket in advance does not guarantee you a specific seat. Hokuto Kotsu provides cash, contactless payment using supported credit cards, and PayPay. Check the support provided by the operator and vehicle, and don't just rely on your transport IC card, but prepare cash as well. According to Hokuto's guidelines, trunk baggage is limited to one suitcase per person, and cannot be loaded if there is insufficient space. Please inquire in advance for multiple pieces of large or special baggage. You must carry the power bank yourself and not put it in the trunk.

When picking up your luggage at your destination, it is a good idea to check your tags and bags and save the name of the stop you get off on to your phone.

Accommodation around Sapporo Station

To get around Sapporo Station · 札幌駅, go to the International Terminal Lobby → Domestic Terminal B1 JR Station → JR Sapporo Station → Exit towards the accommodation → walk. The exits for the northern and southern hotels are different, so check the address of the accommodation you reserved first.

The bus stop in front of Sapporo Station is not a JR platform. The drop-off points for regular and direct services are also different. Keio Plaza Sapporo · Keio Plaza Hotel Sapporo · 京王プラザホテル札幌 has a hotel stop on the general city centre timetable, but you must also consider the order of stops after the JR station.

Transfer to the subway at JR Sapporo Station

After exiting the JR ticket gate, follow the signs for Sapporo Station N06 on the Namboku Subway Line and go south underground. JR’s ‘札幌’ and subway’s ‘さっぽろ’ are different ticket gates. If you take the Makomanai direction, one stop is Odori N07, and two stops are Susukino N08.

Hosuisukino Station on the Toho Line is different from Susukino Station on the Namboku Line.

Accommodation around Odori Park and Odori Station

Odori Park · 大通公園 extends long from east to west. International Terminal → JR Station → Sapporo → Namboku Line Odori Station · 大通駅 → Go to the exit toward the accommodation in that order. If you're staying west of the park, you should also look into walking or taking the additional subway from Odori Station.

Bus: International Terminal 84 → ‘Odori Park’ stop → Walk. The drop-off point for regular buses and the drop-off point for direct services are different, and neither refers to the entire park or in front of all hotels.

Susukino accommodation

Susukino Station · すすきの駅 Nearby: International Line → JR Station → Sapporo → Namboku Line Susukino N08 → Walk. To reduce transfers, take a regular city bus from International Terminal 84 and get off at South 3-jo Susukino and walk to your accommodation.

When there is a bus stop in front of the hotel and around Nakajima Park

The official timetable for the general city centre includes Premier Hotel TSUBAKI, Premier Hotel TSUBAKI Sapporo, プレミアホテルTSUBAKI札幌, Hotel Resol Trinity Sapporo, Hotel Resol Trinity Sapporo, Sapporo View Hotel Odori Park, Sapporo View Hotel Odori Park, Sapporo Prince Hotel, Sapporo Prince There are stops such as Hotel · 札幌プリンスホテル. Make sure to check both the name of the hotel you reserved and the arrival time at the bus stop for the bus you plan to take. Not all hotels cater to all customers.

There are limited direct services around Nakajima Park · 中島公園, so please compare getting off at Nakajima Park or transferring to N09 at Nakajima Park Station on the JR → Namboku Line. You have to walk back from the bus stop to your accommodation. Winter walks and underground passages

Chikaho · Sapporo Ekimae-dori Underground Walkway · 札幌駅前通地下歩行空間 connects approximately 520m between Sapporo Subway Station and Odori Station, and the official opening hours are 05:45 to 00:30 the next day. Please note that the walk from Sapporo Station to Odori is approximately 10 minutes, depending on departure exit and luggage.

Odori~Susukino is connected to a separate underground shopping mall, Pole Town · ポールタウン.

Just by looking at the Chikaho time, you should not assume that the doors connecting Pole Town and the department store and the hotel entrance are all open. The Pole Town travel time has not been confirmed in this official data, so a fixed time is not listed. Check the Chikaho opening information, underground shopping mall information, and site entrance signs. Sections that are not connected indoors to the accommodation may take longer due to snow and ice, so it is a good idea to bring non-slip shoes and extra time. Last departure and late arrival at New Chitose Airport

This is based on the regular timetable confirmed on October 4, 2026. The bus confirmed the airport departure → Sapporo arrival direction in the revised table on April 1, 2026. Temporary suspensions or timetable changes must be confirmed on the date of travel.

Special rapid train bound for Airport Teine. This is not the international arrival lobby departure time. This is not a train that leaves after waiting for a delayed flight, so decide whether you can board it after completing immigration, baggage claim, transfer to the station, and ticketing.

Last bus to the city centre

International Terminal bus stop 84 departs at 22:59

The last buses leave domestic stop 14 (ANA side) at 22:55 and stop 22 (JAL side) at 22:37. The last ANA-side bus does not depart from the JAL-side stop. The last bus from the international terminal is scheduled to arrive at South 3rd Group Susukino the next day at 00:03, at Odori Park at 00:07, and in front of Sapporo Station at 00:12.

You cannot assume that you can catch the last bus just by looking at the landing time. Transferring to the subway or using underground passages is not automatically possible after the last bus arrives. Also check your accommodation's late check-in deadline and the distance you have to walk after getting off.

After public transport has stopped running

There are official regular taxi and reserved taxi stands on the first floor for both international and domestic flights. The fare varies depending on destination, driving conditions, tolls, and late-night surcharges, so there is no fixed amount listed. For reservation pickup, please compare the reservation number, meeting location, waiting time in case of flight delay, and no-show conditions confirmed by the company. When your flight is late and you miss your reserved ticket

For Ekinet ticketless reserved seats, changes and refunds must be processed on the web before the departure of the reserved train and before 23:50. The following empty seat and refund fee rules apply: After departure, unused reserved seat tickets are invalid and cannot be used for the next reserved seat.

A separate valid basic ticket is required to use non-reserved seats. For paper reserved seating tickets, check the rules at the ticket counter, and for passes, check the exchange/activation/seat reservation status.

The regular city-bound airport bus does not offer specific seat reservations, so you can check the next service and seat availability. Please follow the terms and conditions of the seller regarding the expiration date and refund of tickets purchased in advance. In winter, check flights, JR, and buses separately.

It cannot be said that certain flights or all transportation were cancelled just because it was snowing. JR suspension does not guarantee bus operation. Before leaving the airport, check which transport services actually take you to your destination and which seats are available.

If you arrive late alone, it is best to contact the accommodation at the official information centre/boarding area where there are people, and check the reserved vehicle information and luggage before moving on.

Buy a basic-fare ticket for the airport train; a reserved u-seat requires an additional seat ticket. A multi-day rail pass is a different product from a one-way airport ticket. What is the difference between JR non-reserved seats and reserved seats?

Non-reserved seats have a basic fare of 1,230 yen and seats are not guaranteed. Check the flight status separately with the airport and airline, then compare operating buses, official taxis, reserved vehicles, or hotels near the airport.

How can I get around if I arrive late at night?

In the confirmed regular timetable, the last departure to JR city centre departs from New Chitose Airport Station at 23:21 and arrives at Sapporo Station at 23:54. The last regular bus to the city centre is from international-terminal bus stop 84 at 22:59 and arrives in front of Minami 3-jo Susukino, Odori Park, and Sapporo Station the next day. Please judge by the time when you have finished entering the country, carrying your baggage, and moving to the boarding area. If public transportation is closed or full or suspended, you can use the official taxi stand on the first floor of the international terminal, confirmed reservation pickup, or accommodation near the airport.
