Saraku in Ibusuki combines sand bathing and hot-spring bathing. Wear the hire yukata for your sand bath, then use the hot spring. Visit during your Ibusuki trip if you would like to try sand bathing.

Admission
The basic sand-bath package costs JPY 1,500 for junior high school age and older or JPY 800 for primary school age and younger. It includes sand bath, hot spring and hire yukata; towels are separate. The towel package costs JPY 1,800 or JPY 1,100 respectively. Special-period supplements may apply.
Opening hours
Saraku opens 08:30–21:00, with reception until 20:00. Sand-bath reception pauses 12:00–13:00 on weekdays.

The sand-bath package includes sand bathing, hot-spring use and a hire yukata. Allow time to rest afterwards rather than moving immediately to your next destination.
How to get to Saraku sand bath and hot spring
Take the JR Ibusuki-Makurazaki Line from Kagoshima-Chuo Station and get off at Ibusuki. Saraku is about 20 minutes on foot or 5 minutes by taxi from the station. Add station-to-facility travel to train arrival when checking whether you can reach reception before closing.
Before you visit
Bring a towel or choose the towel package
The basic package excludes towels. Bring your own or choose a towel package. Special-period supplements may apply, so check your visit-date price.
Coordinate train arrival and sand-bath reception
Saraku is about 20 minutes' walk from Ibusuki Station. Sand-bath reception pauses 12:00–13:00 on weekdays; allow the walk after train arrival when timing your visit. For the return, allow changing, bathing, rest and travel back to the station.

2026 maintenance and temporary closures
Maintenance closures are 6–10 July and 14–18 December 2026. Bad weather or equipment faults may also cause temporary closure; check notices before visiting.
