How to get to Yahiko Shrine

Take the JR Echigo Line from Niigata to Yoshida. Change to a JR Yahiko Line train bound for Yahiko and get off there. The shrine is about 1 km from the station, taking about 15 minutes on foot. Return from Yahiko to Yoshida and change to a Niigata-bound train. Check travel-day return trains and fares with JR.

Change trains at Yoshida and walk from Yahiko Station to the shrine. Choose return trains in advance, allowing time to walk back to the station and change at Yoshida.

Do I need to go to the summit to see Yahiko Shrine?

You can visit just the shrine grounds. The shrine reached on foot from Yahiko Station is different from the summit's Okumiya. For the summit, check transport such as the ropeway and its separate fees and hours.

Is there a direct train from Niigata Station to Yahiko Shrine?

Take the Echigo Line from Niigata to Yoshida, then change to the Yahiko Line. The shrine is about 1 km, or 15 minutes on foot, from Yahiko Station. This walk is additional to train travel and transfers. Check return timetables for your travel date.
