Can I add Sado Gold Mine to a half-day city itinerary?

The mine is on Sado Island. The car ferry from Niigata Port to Ryotsu Port takes about 2 hours 30 minutes each way, followed by an island bus journey to the mine. Plan a separate island trip rather than adding it to a half-day city walk. The four- and five-day trips including the mine have two nights in Ryotsu, with the mine visit and ferry return on different days.
