Facility guidance gives about 15 minutes uphill from stop to museum; the tourism association lists 367 steps. Allow meals and stairs before daytime viewing. The museum opens from 09:00 to 16:30, and adult admission costs JPY 350; check the official closure calendar.

Day 3 · Morioka Station → Motsuji → Chusonji → Morioka stay
Give Hiraizumi temples a separate day from literature. Allow Chusonji descent in time for the Morioka return train.

Take a JR Tohoku Main Line local train to Hiraizumi, checking direct/connecting services and stops for your date. Official station-to-Motsuji walking is about seven minutes. Travel in the morning to leave temple and meal time.
- Hiraizumi Station → Motsuji viewing, Run Run and Chusonji
Walk about seven minutes to Motsuji for Oizumi-ga-ike garden, with adult admission at JPY 700. Opening hours are 08:30–17:00, closing at 16:30 from 5 November–4 March. After lunch, return to station stop for circular Run Run to Chusonji. In 2026 it operates weekends/public holidays 11 April–29 November and daily 13–16 August. Costs assume those dates. Regular buses on other days have different timetables/fares and do not accept Run Run day passes.
- Chusonji → Konjikido and Sankozo viewing
Climb Tsukimizaka past the main hall to Konjikido and Sankozo. Adult standard admission costs JPY 1,000. The temple opens from 08:30 to 17:00 from 1 March–3 November, and from 08:30 to 16:30 otherwise; ticket sales end ten minutes earlier. Allow ascent/descent separately from bus travel and return down the same path. Special openings need separate tickets.

Return by bus to Hiraizumi Station, then JR to Morioka. Choose a bus allowing uphill viewing/descent and train connections for delays. Eat near Morioka Station and return to the same accommodation. Standard adult admission for both temples totals JPY 1,700, two Run Run rides JPY 400. Adult local train one-way reference JPY 1,600; recheck your date’s fare.

Choose temple dates around Run Run operations. Chusonji needs uphill/downhill walking and ticketing ends ten minutes before closing. For both temples, travel in the morning, allowing garden, meals and approach time; choose the return bus first.

Finish with Red Brick Building displays after the longer day trips.

From Miyako Station stop 3, choose a Jodogahama/Miyako Hospital-bound service via the visitor centre. Choose both journeys first; allow beach walking separately from bus travel.

City guidance gives about 15 minutes walking from centre to beach.
- Jodogahama beach → Walk, return to centre and bus
Retrace your walk to the visitor-centre stop and take a station-bound bus, allowing time to walk back from the beach.
- Miyako Station → Accommodation return and pass costs
Return to Miyako Station, eat dinner and stay in the same accommodation. The Jodogahama/Miyako Port one-day area pass costs adult JPY 500 for local buses in the specified area. Outside the free park shuttle’s operating period, use regular city buses back.
Walk back from the beach to the visitor centre. Shorten walks for weather or on-site restrictions.
Day 3 · Miyako Station → fish market → Dezaki Pier cruise → Miyako stay
After the fish-and-produce market, cruise from Dezaki Pier for coast views. If wind or waves cancel cruises, spend time at the market and take city walks.

After the market, take an Oku-Jodogahama/Kuwagasaki-bound bus from station stop 3 to Sea Topia Nado, in front of Dezaki Pier’s cruise ticket office.

From Sea Topia Nado, go to Miyako Umineko Maru ticketing at Dezaki Pier. Check dated departures/returns and bus journeys together, allowing queues and boarding preparation. View the coast from aboard the boat on this plan, staying aboard rather than alighting for beach walks. Standard adult admission costs JPY 1,800; showing the same-day adult JPY 500 city pass gives JPY 1,500 cruise admission. Cruises do not run on Tuesdays in April–June and September–December, except on public holidays; October omits the final service 7. Choose a Dezaki departure returning to Dezaki without getting off at the beach.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use JR EAST PASS for a Hiraizumi day from Morioka?
The JR Tohoku Main Line Morioka–Hiraizumi section is covered. Run Run/regular temple buses and admission cost separately. Ordinary tickets are another choice; the local-train return reference is JPY 3,200. Recheck fares officially for different dates/trains. If you already have a pass, check validity/eligibility before buying duplicate JR tickets.

Does the Miyako city-bus pass also let me cruise?
The bus pass alone does not cover boarding. Show your same-day JPY 500 pass to buy a separate discounted adult cruise ticket for JPY 1,500. The four-day coastal plan budgets one pass each for beach and cruise days. For cancellation, leave out the cruise and spend time at market/city walks.
