Temple visits and meals in Narita

Choose this short trip when using Narita Airport and splitting small station-area exhibits, temple visits and Omotesando meals. It does not travel to the parks or south.

Day 1 · Narita tourist pavilion and Omotesando

Travel from the airport to Narita city for festival floats and Omotesando meals. Omit exhibits for late arrivals or closures and enjoy streets/meals instead.

  1. Narita Airport railway station → Keisei-Narita or JR Narita Station

Choose a train stopping in Narita city. Distinguish it from Skyliner services to Nippori/Ueno. From Terminal 3, go first to Terminal 2’s railway station. Airport hotels and Narita station-area accommodation are in different locations.

    Narita Airport railway guideSkyliner stops

  2. Around JR/Keisei-Narita stations → Narita tourist pavilion

Walk roughly 10 minutes along Omotesando to the pavilion. View float exhibits, then return to the station. Allow separate time for continuing to the temple’s main hall.

    Access and name comparison

  3. Tourist pavilion entrance → Tourist information and float exhibits

Start with first-floor local information, then upstairs festival floats. Admission is free. Check dated elevator access in official notices before going up. If stairs are difficult and the elevator unavailable, visit only floor 1.

  4. Narita tourist pavilion → Around Narita Station

Retrace Omotesando afterwards. Allow roughly 10 minutes to the station; meals, queues and walking to your accommodation add time.

    Access and name comparison

Check pavilion opening dates and elevator restrictions in attraction guidance. Restaurant hours and queues vary.

Day 2 · Naritasan visit before the airport

Visit the temple before the airport if you have enough departure-day time.

  1. Around JR/Keisei-Narita stations → Omotesando to Naritasan Somon gate

Follow Omotesando’s shops to Somon. The station approach is roughly 800 m; the main hall is farther from the gate.

  2. Naritasan Somon gate → Great Main Hall

Climb the precinct stairs and slopes to the Great Main Hall. To avoid stairs, check elevator locations on the official precinct map and availability for your date first.

  3. Great Main Hall → Temple visit and grounds

Explore around the main hall after your visit. Buildings/desks have different hours; use only open areas after late arrival. Prayer and sutra-copying activities are excluded.

  4. Great Main Hall → Somon and Omotesando

Retrace the precinct route down to Somon and Omotesando. For meals, choose an eel restaurant or another place after checking hours/queues. Temple hours do not apply to restaurants.

  5. Omotesando → Around Narita Station

Return towards the station along the same Omotesando route. Browsing and meals need extra time beyond walking.

  6. Keisei-Narita or JR Narita Station → Narita Airport or Airport Terminal 2 Station

Take a train stopping at the airport. JR Choshi-bound trains do not go there. Use Narita Airport Station for Terminal 1 or Airport Terminal 2 Station for Terminals 2/3.

  7. Your airport arrival station → Your departure terminal

For Terminal 3, use the connecting passage or free shuttle from Terminal 2. Allow train waits and terminal travel to meet your airline’s arrival deadline. Airport walking estimates from stations are roughly five minutes for Terminals 1/2 or 10 for Terminal 3; they exclude train rides, waits and departure formalities.

Work backwards from your airline’s airport-arrival deadline. For an early flight, go directly to the airport and move the temple visit to day 1.

Will arrival-day Disneyland leave enough viewing time?

Immigration, airport travel and hotel access reduce park time. Prepare a matching ticket and calculate actual arrival-to-entry time. Compare two-day arrival-park routes for shorter visits, or four days resting on arrival and visiting the park next day for a full day.
