Admission
The park is free. Ropeway fares for adults aged 12 and above or junior high school students and older passengers are JPY 1,300 return or JPY 800 one way. For children aged four to under 12, fares are JPY 650 return or JPY 400 one way. Previous admission fees for the closed castle are excluded.
Opening hours and closed days
The first ascent is at 09:00. The listed weekday last ascent is at 17:30 and last descent at 18:00; weekend last ascent is at 20:00 and last descent at 20:30. Seasonal and night operation can differ; check your date’s timetable.

How to get to Gifu Park and Kinkazan Ropeway
From JR Gifu stands 12 and 13, use Nagarabashi services such as N43 stopping at Gifu Park/Gifu Castle. Check the timetable and stop markers. Walk roughly three minutes to the park; the four-minute ropeway ride excludes queues. Return on a JR Gifu-bound bus.

Before you visit
Walking continues above the ropeway
Slopes and stairs remain at the summit. Wear comfortable shoes for walking after alighting.
Castle keep and museum closed
Checked 8 October 2026: the keep closed from 19 May and the museum from 1 April. The keep closure is listed until around 31 October 2027; the city plans a November reopening. Check reopening notices for interiors. Ropeway and viewpoint operation are separate.

Ropeway inspection suspensions
The planned suspension periods are 1–28 December 2026 and 7 January–16 February 2027. Reconsider your dates if planning ropeway travel then.
